|Akunin||Well bumper to me means: to bump... not smash. But around here we call them deer killers, for good reason. But seriously, hope nobody was hurt!|

My tube bumper saved my @ss in my wreck, so they can't be all that useless.
Looks like the person who did that is useless, cause It looks like they drove right into a pole or tree or something pretty hard and I don't know of any bumper that can protect a vehicle from that damage.
I don't think they've designed a bumper for ignorance yet.....to each their own though.

|clear lake jeepn||I would NOT automatically discredit ALL tube bumpers..even though I don't like them and think they look cheap...I would think the strength would be dependant on the wall thickness of the particular tubing used. Alot of the tube bumpers I see look like they would fold like an accordian.|

|toshpate||I think it was more of an endo spin, I snapped my rear tire off and it flipped me, just remembered to tuck and all I ended up with is a skinned elbow. and no it is still sitting waiting ever so patiently for me to hit the lotto and fix her properly, the YJ keeps draining my money and so the CJ remains neglected|

|jcf||You may be right Stas, but I still feel much safer with my current bars & having owned the tube bars when I had my TJ I wouldn't buy them again, they fold pretty easy|

|toshpate||mine saved my jeep from even more damage and I rolled it twice on pavement and landed upside down in the center median, thank god for full rollcages and steel bumpers|

|drivebytruckerz||They are also ugly IMO, but to each his/her own.|

|Stas73||It is a personal preference to have either a tube bumper or something else and we all can blame it or support it, but I believe you guys are missing a point here just looking at destroyed bumper. The bumper just have done its job; it did what it supposes to do - to protect the frame and body of the vehicle. It compensated the impact and bent to reduce the front hit. Otherwise, with hard built bumper you probably would see totaled car and 100% crashed and bloody windshield with brain on it. In this case the owner will need to take care of himself, replace front grill, hood, bumper and probably fix front part of the frame. So I would not say a bad word about this particular bumper|

Correction, Bumpers made of light gauge material and built for looks are useless. Tubing in a proper gauge and built with proper bracing and triangulation would be quite strong.
Thousands of offroad racing vehicles have proven it's worth over the years.
