Try carrying expensive sensitive items in a soft top that can be unzipped. A hardtop is a LOT more secure than a soft top could ever be.

cavediverjc Up until 2003, the hardtops had vents built into them in the rear corners. Starting in 2003, Chrysler put the vents into the tailgate, eliminating the corner vents in the roof. That's how you can tell newer TJs from the older TJs when they're wearing their hardtop.

Geoff@Bestop 97-06 will fit. But there were a couple of minor changes in the factory models along the way.

You may need to do some extra wiring for the lights and defroster. There are kits available, and I do not think it's a big issue.

And they moved the air vent from the hardtop to the tailgate at some point. So if you have a hardtop with no vent, and no vent in your tailgate, then you can get extra air in your cab with no where to go. I do not remember the exact years for these changes, but since you have the late model TJ, I would think the air vent thing won't be an issue.

The Bestop hardtop spans all those years because it's generic wiring and has the air vents.

Unless you're in weather bad enough to mess up a soft top, or have some things you want better protected.

Frat36 Check out bestop.com for a quick reference. They say 97-06.

lonur1 Think that 97-06 are all the same.
