I agree... I was sooooooo close to buying one. But then a few recent threads started here and on some other forums. This seems like the perfect soft top for us hard-top-only owners, if not for the problems closing the header, installing the back window, and ripping the weatherstripping.

I know Geoff from Bestop posts on this forum and has been helpful on some of these questions. I've also read some of his posts that gave me the impression he's had limited personal experience with the Trektop on the 4 door Unlimited - I could be wrong on that.

Geoff... If you could, please take these issues to the company. We're out here and ready to buy.

fivenote Disappointing. I would like to get one and make it work. I was prepared to deal with the tight fit and difficulty fastening the header knobs knowing there'd be a break-in period. I also figured it would leak a little. But I'm not ready to deal with it tearing up door weather stripping. That would cost me time & $$ to fix.

I just may wait a bit to see if bestop makes some more adjustments to the top as they've done in the past.

OverLander Hey fivenote,
Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be like that. On the forward top corner on one of my rear doors a 1 inch by 1/8 inch of stripping was bitten off with repeated opening and closing of that door. A small hole in the weather-stripping on the opposite rear door at that forward upper corner, too, has developed. The damage is done and now I don't see the point of returning it.

fivenote Can anyone comment on this?

I'm planning on getting a trektop and can understand the tight fit issue and that it will loosen up over time. But I'd think twice about something that chews up factory weatherstripping.

Trektop and Door Weather-Stripping

I recently purchased and installed the Trektop. My JK Unlimited has the full steel doors. I noticed upon repeated openings and closings the rear door weather stripping where it meets the door surround at the forward top corner became torn. On one door it actually bit off a bit of the stripping. Anyone else have this problem?
