Joes You can also buy RV weatherstripping at Menards by the house weatherstripping.

Triple88a the clips are between the door frame and the seal.. they simply hold the seal to the door frame. On my 00 they were somewhat loose when i got it so the seal would slap the hardtop each time you close the door.

Another thing you can possibly do is unclip the winshield clips and then screw the top down as you are pulling/pushing it backwards and then clip it to the front by the winshield again and see if makes difference. On my TJ the hardtop would come too far forward if i first clip it and then screw it down so i have to screw it first and then clip it otherwise the door frame hits it and the seal is caught in the middle.

Where are the "clips"? I looked and didn't see anything.

I was thinking that if I add a small amount of a slippery liquid (like WD-40 or Silicone Lubricating Spray) on the lip of the door, then the rubber weather stripping wouldn't rip since it would slip instead of "grabbing" the lip of the door. Would that work?

My dealer is also sucks.. I bought a jeep from a jeep dealer.. so they are like you have 3 months waranty bla bla bla.. i'm like this dealership is quite far from where i live.. can i go to my local jeep dealer?.. the guy is like yes just give him that waranty paper.. so i go to my local dealer to find a rattle.. (which turned to be bad transfer case shifter links) and the guy there is like although your jeep is under warranty we charge to find problems even if they are covered by the warrany. I'm like this doesnt make sence.. Altough its under warranty i'm still suppose to pay for you to fix it? yes.. so i'm like how much.. the guy is like 99 + tax to find the rattle which is non refundable no matter if the problem is covered by the warranty or not. So i go to the dealer that i got my rig at 30 miles away and got my rattle (not covered) and bad radiator fixed (covered=free) so the bottom price was 130 out the door.

Most dealers will rip you off every chance they get.. the sooner you accept it the better off you are!

Well when it all ended I was tired, no drained and the dealer pissed me off to no end and the so called knowledgable staff, well. In the end had to replace the weather stripping and then chose to cut the stripping and modify to fit door and top juncture so as to have a working seal. The dealer swore up and down I was the only tj person who had this prob. Guess what theres another one!

Get some new door seals, modify them so they dont tear again and dont bother with the dealer because they couldnt find their Irish arse with both hands and a search light. OK I'm steppin of the soap box. May be that should be slippin.

Oh, I forgot to mention this was on an "06 X, when it was like 60-90 days new.

Door Weather stripping Question...

Hi! I just bought my first Jeep (a 2004 Wrangler X). I think I got a great deal at $15000 since it only had 16k miles on it.

Anyway, my first question is about the weather stripping around the doors. I noticed that the rubber weather stripping is starting to rip. It seems that as the door shuts, the rubber weather stripping "grabs" the side of the hard top and gets pinched. This must have eventually caused the tear.

Has anyone else noticed a problem like this and if so, what can I do to help this from becoming worse?

Thanks for your help!
