animalgrace I am considering putting boards on the Rubicon I bought 12/31/13. Not for help getting in but to protect the lower door area. Driving on dirt roads kicks up a lot of rocks and chipped the paint on my first Ram so I installed them on my 2nd Ram and that solved the problem. Does anyone have an opinion as to if the width of the fenders are sufficient to prevent this issue?

_plaisance my girlfriend is short (4'11") and she litterally has to crawl in but i made some paracord grab handles it helps alot she can pick herself up into without having to crawl in

SurfKaster In general no, especially aftermarket tubes. Threw on a set of factories for the kids. Don't mind the look of factory as much, but don't plan to keep forever.

hk940 Just got my first Wrangler ( 97 2.5L 5 speed manual ), last month. all stock for now.Did get a set of 5 31x10.50xx15 Wrangler dura tracks and Summitt racing soft 8 rims. When I checked for fit tires would be out side of fenders, ordered a set of 7" fenders. Do I see the beginning of a money pit?
As far as far as running boards my Dodge 2500 is a whole lot higher than the Jeep, and has no boards.granted My wife needs to use the grab bar to get in ( she is 5'7" I am 6'9". I do need to move the drivers seat back for a little more leg room.

tsteb I found a set of nerf bars of cl and sold my stock ones to another jeeper. Only reason I have them is for the girlfriend. Looking to get rocker guards with side step soon though a

K.wag I had one jeep with them and one without, and the one without looked loads better. The stock ones decrease clearance. Rock rails are a much better alternative

Mr Mac I have the stock set on my '06 so the wife can get in when she rides/drives. A coworker took his off of his TJ and it kinda looks odd to me.

MarkGLHS not a huge fan but I do like to keep my TJ stock looking, plus the steps are great for reaching up and cleaning the hardtop.

Kevin063 PO put aftermarket running boards on my Jeep. I actually like the look, I think it works with the jeep. And it helps the girlfriend climb in and out. lol

Side boards/running boards... like 'em or not?

Hi crew,

I bought my 3rd TJ ('05 X) less than a year ago and I can't decide if want to put side boards on it. I found them useful on my last jeep when I worked around a boatyard and was hopping in and out all day.

Not sure what I think now. Please give me your advice/opinion, part recommendations, and post pics if you please.

Thanks...
