03 RUBI If you get any mud on it, that nice black finish will turn to various shades of brown.

aghostinside I used header paint last year to spray my exhaust. I think it is from vht or something. Still black today. What ever company it was also makes nightshade for tail lights. I did't do anything special, just sprayed and let it dry.

rabiddawg Any AZ, PepBoys, O'Reilly's etc will have something like "header paint". It's a high temp paint and I used it on my '81 Corvette with good results. It's been on the pipe (not the headers) for two years and it hasn't burnt off yet. It has actually held up better than I expected. Just follow the directions and cure it accordingly

IndyJeepMan Yeah that stuff will work, just make sure its atleast 500 F Temp paint!

HeaveToo Thanks for the suggestions. I was wondering about the paint. I wonder if the paint you use for engines would work.

Then again, I may just leave it alone if it is something I have to constantly do!

Viper5 it wont last for very long. if it is mild or aluminized steel, which is most oem exhaust systems, your probably going to be repainting it. i know with my current jeep, when i did my exhaust which is mandrel bent aluminized steel i used rustoleum stove and bbq paint, brush on in fact and that was 3-4k miles ago. i've had good luck with it on many exhaust systems that i have build over the years. just make sure you prep the metal first. wire wheel/brush, and some light sanding and you should be good.

InfernoGirl You'll need high temp paint, or it'll just burn off, but other than that, I can see no reason not to do it if you want.... Mines so smashed it doesn't matter...

Painting the tail pipe Question

Most of the trim that I am putting on my Jeep is black. I am thinking about painting the visible section of the tail pipe black to match.

Can anyone think of some reasons for or against this? Would this cause any issues?
