philliprose25 *MOD UPDATE*

I had to go back and add a lock washer and a cut washer (?) to both bolts. After running through a field and some mud pits, the nuts were rattling loose. The lock washers seemed to fix the problem.

Bignuke That thing is huge!

IMHO, I would think it would look ALOT better with the 48" hilift...

48" is actually the appropriate height Hi-Lift for a Wrangler, I'd cut the extra length off if it were mine.

philliprose25 Yea. I don't. Know. Why I got the tall one. And yes the wing nuts have almost come. Off. I added lock washers to it and took it off road...seems OK now

xwolfmanxx I dont even attempt those kind of garages anymore!

Ripped a roof rack off of my old Xterra(buddy told me I was good!)

...And with the lifted Jeep...I try not to think about what would happen haha

Jerry Bransford Dang that is tall, is that the 48" version? It seems to be too tall to be the usual 48" jack that is common on Jeeps. That seems like it'd drag or hit when driving in some of those multi-level parking garages with the low roofs.

03 RUBI I'd use a ny-loc nut in place of the wing nut for 2 reasons. 1) vibration won't cause it to come off and 2) a ny-loc makes it harder to steal. Yes you will need a wrench to remove it, but to me it's worthwhile and you should have wrenchs anyway.

My first SERIOUS project on my TJ!

I'm excited! One..because the All Breeds Jeep Show was Schweet!!! and two, because it gave me inspiration. I have a high lift jack did not have the mounts for it. I like it when they are mounted next to the spare tire but I was told you have to replace the entire tire carrier to get one with a mount...so I made my own! I wish I was thinking about the forum when I was building and attaching it cause I would have loved to do a step by step. But basically I took 1/8 x 2" strap steel found at home depot, and used 2 - 1/2" x 4" bolts and 2 - 1/2" wing nuts. I took the plastic covers off of the stock tire rack and welded the mount to it. I'll attach the pictures of the after math. I of course painted it with the rustoleum truck bed liner spray. If anyone wants a more detailed step by step please PM me and I'd be happy to make one up! Please let my know what you think!
