Rear Seat Installation

Follow up: I purchased the part (ring) that holds the seat rod inside the floorpan bracket. In case anyone else needs this part, it is Mopar part#6506459AA (cost is about $6).

Thanks for the input. I figured something had to be missing. I do have the strap that came with the Jeep (thanks to the previous owner) and it holds the seat in place until I go off road, then the crossbar comes out of the floorpan bracket. I'll pick up the part locally. Thanks again.

drivebytruckerz There's also supposed to be a factory strap that holds the seat to the roll bar. It's in the owner's manual, but you know how people do with new Jeeps.. they take stuff out and trow it all over.

KCrisp There is a ring that snaps on the outside of the post, and fits down in the groove. Once you put that in, it stops falling out when under way. I didn't have that part and then I noticed one on my old lawn mower and that did the trick. You could find something that would work at a real hardware store.

Rear Seat Installation

I hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I've got a 2002 Wrangler Sport and am having a problem keeping the rear seat in the brackets when it's folded up. If I go off road, it comes off the brackets. I'm curious if there is a piece of hardware that fits on the end of the "pins" that go into the side bracket holes? I can feel a groove on each end of the pin and I believe the groove is evident in the photos above. Perhaps I am missing a cotter pin or a ring that holds each end of the pin in the side brackets?? Thanks for any information on this.

dsum14 These are great pics. Do you have pics with the seat installed? They gave me a couple of these plastic bushings and cotter pins that I think go on the front but not exactly sure...

distortedtj here you go bud pics and locations....

driver rear bracket....

driver front bracket...

passenger rear bracket...

passenger front braket...

and on the front of the seat there are two pins. the one with the ring cut on it slides into the hole on the front bracket.

On the rear of the seat there are the pins that slide into the rear brackets when you fold the seat back up into position.
On the drivers side rear of the seat there is a lever that lock onto the pin when the seat is folded open. This locks the seat in place.

Any more questions let us know.

Rear Seat Installation

Hey guys, I'm sure people have heard this question a million times, but I am at a loss. I bought my 97 Wrangler last year without a rear seat. I purchased a rear seat from Craigslist and supposedly all the brackets that came stock on my Jeep. I started installing all the brackets, but I have no manual to go off of on this. I am curious if someone has pics, directions, or a drawing that I can go off of. Also, I got to looking at the seat and brackets. There are 2 front brackets that look like the seat slides into and 2 rear striker brackets that look like the seat fits down in. The problem that I am noticing is that I'm not sure how the seat will stay put in the front brackets nor does it look like the striker brackets hold the seat down. What's the deal? How does the seat stay put? I am very worried about this as I have an 8 month old. When she turns 2 and able to ride back there in a front facing child seat, I want to make sure she is going to be safe. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
