|RogueWrangler||...thanks for the input guys! I'm still undecided at this point, due to fitting/looks with the flares I install. I had ordered the Smittybilt Pocket Flares to install, and I'm almost finished with removing the factory flares and steps, but I'm having second thoughts of installing the new flares. They just don't seem as durable as the factory flares. They look good, but seem a little less durable in comparison. I'm considering returning them for credit towards a winch, or something else, and trying to locate some less costly TJ Sahara flares to fab to my rig. Decisions, decisions!!!|

|Klug||Some are TJ's but there are reviews and pictures in this thread: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f282/eb...rs-192833.html|

|curtisreinke||Has anyone got a pic of those on a jeep? It's hard to tell where the edges of them actually end up.|

|Klug||Stan, trust me I understand what you are saying. If I ever put a set on it will be mostly just for looks. My Jeep will see very little off road time. If I am lucky it will be pulling deer out of the woods in the winter and thats about it. I own a machine shop but for $215 I wouldnt even try to make a set. I do appreciate the "heads up" on a better set if I were in a real need for some though.|

If you want better offroad protection, you might want to pay a bit more. Those ebay guards skimp on the metal under Jeep, and only have body mount tie in. A ton of vendors make them - most of them run $300-400 with the side steps.
If you can weld and have the time, they are fairly easy to make - take a look at the fab forum here for some threads on the topic.

Rocker Guard Protection with Step Option
Hey guys! I'm in the process of removing my factory fender flares and steps of my 95' YJ Sahara, and installing extended flares. Well, in the process of removing the factory mud guards and steps that are built along with the factory flares, I'm now looking at rocker guard protection to not only cover up the holes, but also protect the rockers from damage. My only other issue is that I'd like rocker guards that have some sort of step for when my Wife rides in my rig. We hit up quite a few sporting clays events, and enter and exit the Jeep quite frequently. I'm interested in buying some that that look great, but also serve the purpose of protection, and aren't garbage.
What do you guys suggest?
