|ddbowdoin||I'm sure the color matched top will be an extra option, and a useless one if you ever plan on taking them off. As careful as I am with mine I haven't been able to keep the scratch free.... I don't care at all that they are scratched but if it ended up costing me an extra 400+ for a factory matched painted top that would bother me.|

My first truck was a 1986 CJ-7. It's the truck I learned how to drive on, and the one I drove all through high school and my first year in college. I distinctly remember calling the YJ a tiny little square headlight wearing computerized plastic mommy mobile. When it was finally time to let the CJ go I wouldn't even consider buying a YJ. My opinion at the time was that Jeep was dead.
I've grown up a lot since then.

The mother of my niece did the cash for clunkers deal last year and got a pretty basic Jeep Compass. Nice little "baby" Jeep haha! It's been nothing but a reliable vehicle and my niece, being a cute toddler, loves the jeep. She also tells me the my jeep is "very nice" and that she likes it.
Each vehicle Jeep makes plays a role and I for one support them. Had Jeep not appealed to the masses, the mother of my niece would not have been able to get a nice reliable and affordable vehicle.
And some people complain a little too much about JK's and how Jeep is marketing... where it becomes more than just little jokes and casual fun. Sometimes it becomes a broken record of annoyance and bold hate towards the new jeeps.

interesting fact: the wrangler is the ONLY jeep product that still has a tub on frame design.
TO ALL JK HATERS/NEW year JK HATERS:
the new JK still has a frame, solid axles, 4x4, removable top, fold-able windshield, removable doors, manual transfer case, etc. everything else is aesthetics... so get over whatever predispositions you have about the JK and the new model. If it starts to lose the basic construction of the wrangler then have an uproar...
jeepers ARE suppose to be layed back and welcome all wrangler owners, we may jar each other but its in good fun not snide prideful arrogance

I had a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee as my first vehicle. The a Dodge truck. Then to a 06 TJ Unlimited. Then as of last year, I own a JK unlimited and to hell with anyone who bashes the 4 door and calls it a mini-van. I like MY jeep and I am not trying to get the approval of anyone except me. So when you hate on my JKU, you look like a complete arrogant ass (which is a worse image for jeepers than a mall crawling soccer mom jeeper... in my opinion). I respect all Wrangler/jeep owners. Because for every new Jeep purchased, the chances of the Jeep staying strong and producing a new product each year, increases. And THAT is what I like... and with this economy, Jeep can do whatever it takes to stay in business, I'll accept it... only if they keep producing a Wrangler that is! :P

|KevinTheMick||I just bought a 2010 Wrangler mountian edition. I love it. This is not my first Jeep. I had a 94' , and put over 200,000 miles on it before the frame couldnt handle it anymore. As far as Im concerned, my 2010 is hands down the better of the two. Dont get me wrong, I loved my 94. I think I spent more time in that Jeep than I did in my house. But my 10' is just a better vechicle. I parted out my 94' when she quit on me, and had to wait almost 2 full years to get my new Jeep. To me it was worth the wait. I use my Jeep as my everyday driver. The majority of the miles I put on it are thanks to the blacktop. I try to get out into the woods at least 2 times a week. That being said, the highway ride on my 10' is way smoother than my 94' was. The off-road driving is cleaner and tighter as well. I feel safer in the 10'. I also love my 6-speed manual tranny. As far as I'm concerned I got my Jeep for the reason I believe it was made for..... To drive it, and to have fun while driving it. Be it on the road or trail. Also conerning the bumper.... Jeeps are one of the most customizable vehicles on the market. If you get one and dont like the bumper/fender flares/wheels so on and so on, you have about a thousand choices to replace these items. For example, I love my Mountain edition. I didnt however love the orange Mountain sticker that came on the side of the hood. I am also not a huge fan of the grille. I havnt had any problems finding replacments for these items and I've barely tried looking. As far as Im concerned there are 2 types of drivers in the world. Those who drive Jeeps, and those who dont. I love my Jeep, and think it's funny when people hate on other Jeep owners because they got their Jeep for the "wrong" reason, or went w/ the automatic, or dont have a 5" lift kit....... In my eyes the only "wrong" an owner can do to their Jeep is leaving it parked in the driveway. Just my thoughts on the new Jeep. If I ticked you off Im sorry and dont worry, I'll still wave to you when I pass you on the road/trail.|

|Tarby||I would like to see options of half doors, soft tops, and optional power packages or lack there of. Who cares about hardtops...give me a ragtop with soft doors. You can paint a hardtop whatever color of the friggin' rainbow ya want. Bumpers are cosmetic, so who cares about that item. Give engine, drivetrain, and accessory packages like they did in the old days. Make a Wrangler for all different spending levels...but I guess that died with the TJ. Stop copying old ideas, like the Islander package, find a "step down" package like the old Wrangler S base and you will see people wanting to go to dealerships and pick up a "new" Wrangler at a decent price and bump product sales up a little and make Chrysler cream in there jeans a little and find that they can still fill all the niches of "Old Jeep" enthusiasts and new alike. I would buy a base package, then upgrade as I see fit. That's half the fun of owning a Jeep...notice I didn't say lease....that's a lame-ass excuse to own...just my rant for the day....|

Perhaps it is because I am a 2 door 1992 Cheorkee 4.0L owner but I love the look of the same color top. My Jeep is not getting any younger and will need relpacing soon and the only thing as rugged as a 92 Cherokee that Jeep builds these days is the Wrangler. It is not like a Liberty is even close to a true replacement to a Cherokee. The things are glorified city vehicles and things me Cherokee has gone through in its lifetime would have demolished a Liberty long ago.
I would love to buy a permanent integrated roof on a 2 door Wrangler were they ever to create such a vehicle. That and a engine at least equal to the 4.0 I currently have, which after 306,000kms still runs like it is new.
ATM there is no true replacement vehicle for an old Cherokee for people who want true offroad capability and a rugged vehicle yet dont want a vehicle that comes apart like a jigsaw puzzle and all of the associated leaks, noises, rattles, ect... that are inevitable when you have that many connections that are meant to be removed.
Personally I like the look of the Jeep there. It looks nothing like a H2 at all. The only vehicle that thing could be mistaken for at a distance is an older Toyota Land Cruiser, which are by no means ugly in their own right.

I think a bright-painted hardtop would be great. In fact, I considered painting mine. So, I would totally want one as a replacement. Money is no problem. However, two things: 1. will it fit my 2010, 2. how sturdy is the paint over time. If it starts peeling in 3 years, I'm going to be unhappy.

I bet if you went back to 1955, you'd never see a single year of new CJ/YJ/TJ/JK models where current owners didn't complain.
The biggest was the YJ, when we got square headlights. There was much gnashing of teeth that year.
This year, they're showing a trailer and a color-match hardtop.
I'd guess this means it's not a big year for Wrangler changes. So we should all be happy, right?
