lancetkenyon Here is a Warn winch mount with the 4" rise on stock frame, no bumper(stock bumper worked fine too). I really like the rise in the mount, as it really stiffens it up compared to a flat mount. I have a buddy who has a flat mount, as his is all tweaked. Bolt it up and have fun.

Like JD said, people build them up, change out parts, and upgrade alot until they're happy. What they are bored with may be just what you need!

As for posting pics; upload them from your PC to a hosting site like photobucket. Then you use THAT URL to post pics in your thread.

Welcome to The Forum there are alot of very helpful people here!
Ya I have looked on craigs list not much so far. Thanks for the info on posting pics. So far I have meet some really great guys so far. Its just when you open up and tell someone you don't really know what your doing on an issue, some people look at you as an idiot. That happened here on another thread and I damn near said the hell with it, but people like you came around and really were glad to lend a helping hand. I really want to thank you for that.

Warn bumpers are good, but as stated not cheap. I cant vouch for whether or not they will work with your winch plate though....that could be an issue with the big hump you mentioned. There are lots of good bumpers out there, mostly depends what you like.

I think winch plates from warn (flat) are about $80....maybe you could sell the small winch for enough to cover that?
Good idea I'll put it on ebay, I have account there. I'll look at the bumper you suggested. Thanks for your help

Cost, hell those things would have really reach into my budget. The superwinch wasn't as costlly. I like warn wiches but affordabilty was what made my desision.

gabby4x4wheeling Thanks so much for your info and the tube bumpers are gone as of today. I bought a winch mount and it wouldn't fit with those thing's. I have a 8,000 lb winch I ordered and its on its way. It is from Superwinch and it wasn't to expensive. Any suggestions on a front bumper because I'm going to need one. The mount I have, has a 4 inch rise in the middle and attaches like the standard winch mount, but has a hump in the middle. I need to use this plate because my wife is already mad that I purchased a winch that isnt going to work.

catITguy First off, I think a welcome is in order. Also, there is an acronym you must learn: JEEP (Just Empty Every Pocket). Jeeps are addictive but they sure are fun!

Some first thoughts for what to do within your budget:
-OME suspension lift. usually nets about 2.5" of lift and will better clear those 31s. (Im a bit bias, there are other decent brands) ($700)
-tow hooks front and back ($50)
-toolkit, recovery gear (tow strap at least), first aid kit ($100+)
-personally i would replace that winch with a stronger one. 4k lbs doesnt sound like much and if i recall correctly, the rule of thumb is 2x vehicle weight. ($500)
-replace the tube bumpers before you build onto them as you stated you dont like them anyway ($600+)

Do those things, and you are at or close to your $2k limit.

Whatever you do, have fun!

New to Jeeps and Jeep Forums help!

OK here it goes, I'm a first time jeep owner it a 2002 TJ and I just bought it used and the old owner did some mods with 31" tires and Skyjacker shocks with no lift. 2" chrome tube bumpers and side rails, which I really hate. I just bought a winch mount, which had to be the one that had the rise in it to accommodate the tube bumper. I also bought a winch for the jeep, but its a small four thousand pound smittybuilt and I'm not impressed with it. What I want to do is build this jeep so I can use it for everyday driving and be able to off road on some jeep trails here in Ashland Kentucky. These trails are some what Rocky and steep with lots of mud. Some of the trails have large ruts from the guys with there trucks that have huge tire on them. The jeep has a 4.0 straight six and its an automatic trans. I don't have a huge budget, but I have about $2000 to spend before my wife kill's me. Any suggestions for me and links would be great. I would ad a picture, but I don't know how to put it in this tread. I tried but I got lost with URL. I'm just used to attaching to my email. Please be some what polite, I'm just asking for some help here and I don't understand some of the forum rules.
