Geoff@Bestop My Honda does this all the time. It's like the gauge just sits there for days and days. Might have something to do with getting 40 MPG, though.

Now my CJ, the gauge just bounces all over the place. But I just fill it up when I leave, fill it up again half way there, half way back...

InfernoGirl If you don't drive it, the gauge doesn't move..... in the mean time, keep an eye on the odo......

pakman55 if yours is an '03, it came with a factory option where every night while you sleep, it drives to the gulf coast, drinks up some of the sea water and turns the oil into gas.

KBR97 Guess you dont ever have to buy fuel anymore.....

I would guess the float is stuck.

joeljumper What year is your Jeep. Mine is a 97. I just found a factory recall that was never done to mine. They had problems with the fuel sending unit. They are going to fix mine under the recall.... sweet. I'll probably have to pay for new tank straps, mine are pretty rusty. GL

Sticks A few possibilities.

1. Your float on the fuel sending unit came off.

2. Your float arm is stuck at the top.

3. You have an electrical issue that has the signal line form the fuel sending unit shorted to either power or ground (I'd need to see a wire schematic to see how it is wired)

4. Your dash gauge is bad.

Resolution -

First crawl under the Jeep and try to disconnect the fuel sending unit wire harness from the top and see if that makes a change. IIRC is should go to empty. There may be a junction connection along the frame that will be easier to disconnect (will have the wires for the fuel sending unit, tail lights, wheel sensors). Follow the wiring from the tank forward to find it. If it drops to empty, then your problem resides in the fuel sending unit (best to disconnect at the sending unit). No change, then you are back to a short in the wiring or bad gauge.
