rrich After resetting the computer (by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or so,) take it for a ride for about 15-20 miles - mostly hiway miles, not stop and go. Do not drive it hard or soft, just drive it normal. That should reset at least 2 of the 3 Portals required for emissions testing - all that's required.
Usually the last one to set is the evap system - gas cap, charcoal canister etc.

Make sure the gas is fresh, filled within the last 2 weeks.

And -- add a 1/2 pint of Denatured Alcohol (hardware store) to the tank - same thing as the "Guaranteed to Pass stuff.

TOKKIE Sounds like the emmisions monitors are not yet set. I would quess evap is the one not
setting, you may have to drive it a couple of hundred miles to set all emission monitors.
also to set evap monitors you have to have between 1/4 and 3/4 tank of fuel. Hope this helps.

Dasnake88 No i bought it from a Nissan Dealer. They reset the computer but it still isnt getting the correct number of sensors to work to let the test be run. Says it still needs 2 more to set. I havent been able to really touch the car for almost a month but would love to suggest your ideas. If the battery disconnect works then it was just a fritz in the system?

JDsDream Just out of curiosity, why didn't the computer get reset after the o2 sensor and converter were replaced or was it reset and the cel has come back on? Just as a test, disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes and see if the light does come back on once you reconnect it. Also have you actually checked for codes that may be stored? I take it that you did not buy it from a Jeep dealer.

Having some Smog Issues

I'm new to the forum and just purchased my 2001 Wrangler. The car has 68k on it and seems to be in fine working order. The dealer is having problems getting it to pass smog though. Says the on board computer wont switch over and allow the tests to be run. Any ideas as to why? Replaced the oxeygen sensors and the Catallitic converter but still wont work. Been driving it to see if just meeting the requirements for the computer will work but hasnt seemed to do anything either. Maybe bad computer? any advice would be great!
