|aelwero||4WD on pavement is bad for any vehicle... I traded my wife's silverado for my JK, so I know exactly what you're saying, it really is a completely different feeling, but it's bad for either. it sounds like you're chunkin up some gears because you are usually. different speeds on the same axle = somethin's gotta give. on grass/dirt/gravel it's the tires' traction, on pavement, it could be anything in your drivetrain...|

Fuel dripping from skid plate, so it could be anywhere in there. It is now at Jeep Masters in Austin for them to figure it out.
I decided not to try after I couldn't get a tube into the tank to siphon the fuel out. I wasn't going to try to drop a full tank.

where on the vehicle is the gas leaking at? the tank itself?
If it's not the tank you are just gonna have to get under it and follow the lines and see what you can.

|kj 92yj||how about that! welcome to the board! glad problem one is gone....... the gas leak probably isn't the tank, but either the line in, or line out. oh, and nice yj!|

WOW! 4x4 works great in my front yard and in a gravel parking lot that i drove through. I would have never thought that it would be that simple. I am on my 2nd Chevy Silverado Z71, so I know a lot about 4x4. Both Chevys would whine and make a little noise on pavement while in 4H, but nothing like the YJ.
Now just have to figure out the gas leak.

|pakman55||If you are driving it in 4wd on pavement, it is going to sound like a kid in a garbage disposal.|

I hear you on the pavement thing, but would it sound like I am about to tear up gears?
I may go get the oil changed and that way they will let me know if the fluid in the t-case is low.

|pakman55||The first thing i was going to ask was if you were driving on pavement. If so, stop. Very nice looking yj! Welcome to the forum, don't forget to wave|

|chensley||Welcome aboard! I had something similar happen to me when I got mine, turns out the fluid in the transfer case was really really low...hopefully that gives you a starting point.|

My YJ had a fuel leak - got it fixed by the dealer, I think it might have been a recall cause I don't remember paying for the fix. Not sure about your 4 WD
Welcome by the way.

Noob needs help!
Just purchased a '91 Sahara and have a few issues.
When in 4x4 everything is fine when going straight, but turn the wheels and there is popping and binding under the seat and the Jeep won't go.
What can this be?
Also, filled it up and fuel is leaking. Is this the tank or do some Jeeps have problems with lines, gaskets, etc?
Any help for this Noob will be greatly appreciated.
