danthebugman Thanks! If I am ever on that 'Million Dollar Pyramid' game I'll know who to call when I get stumped!

Riptide63 Look for a series of 4 digit numbers close to the rim. The last 4 digits will be stamped into the tire while the previous sets of four will be cast. The last 4 (the ones that are stamped) will be the date code. If the last 4 digits were 3207, that would translate to the 32nd week of 2007. Tires more than 6 years old are junk.

danthebugman Tires have dates on them???? Geez...I AM out of the loop. Where is the date?

InfernoGirl Check the Mfgr date on them, old tires are bad.... Look for cupping, and uneven wear, bulges in the sidewalls... that's all I have...

Buying used tires

I want to step up in tire size from 30" to 31" BFG T/A KO's but I don't want to buy new ones. I don't put 3k miles per year so good used ones will be fine.

Plus, if/when, I decide to 'upsize' the tires with a lift I won't feel so bad.

I am going to look at a set that supposedly have about 7k miles on them.

What should I look for? What questions should I ask? What should I avoid?

You know the drill.....once again you smart people are asked to help a doofus.
