I would not do a 2" BL for 2 reasons, you will have issues with linkages for the t-case, and some lines under the hood and the fan shroud will need to be moved also. You also are not gaining any clearance at the skids or undercarriage with a body lift either, where a 2" BB will gain you this clearance in all areas except the axles of course. That is where the bigger tires come into play.

|djw97tj||hmm i personally would not go with a 2" body lift. it raises the center of gravity 2" therefore making it moreso prone to flip and a jeep is prone to flip anyway. coil spacers would work fine and they make them 2" also there are 1.5" lifts for very cheap and then you could get a 2" coil spacer and theres about 3.5" of lift right there. but hey its your jeep, your choice, let us know what you decide on doing!|

so i got the jeep and im paying off it now. the tires have low tread so ill be replacing them within the year. i was thinking of going with a 2 inch body lift and 33" for now. any thoughts? i know that a 4" and regearing to 4.56 or 4.88 would be the ideal situation but im short on money for the time being.

Parts+labor=$700-$1200 for both axles. Shop around, but use a 4x4 shop that is TRUSTED in your area.
Might want to do a locker or 2 while you have the diffs open, the only added cost will be for the locker itself, since you would need to do gears anyway.

Any idea how can I find this out other than having a mechanic open her up? Would the VIN tell me possibly?
I guess it doesn't matter as I would have to regear for 33's anyway. Thanks guys.

Regearing is not only for rock crawling, but for a DD too. Helps with acceleration, top end speed, MPG, and being able to use all the gears available to you(5th is useless unless going down hill and down wind with 33s and 3.07s).

|snobrder540||I just bought a 2000 sport with a 1" body, 2" suspension, and 33" bf mud terrains. the jeep is my dd but i took it to rausches creek this weekend and the only place I got stuck was in a deep mud pit(up to the bottom of the cab and exhaust gurgleing). otherwise i was going on trails that guys with much more radical jeeps were on with no troubles (on a red-black) and the jeep is still very streetable. the tires rub slightly when you turn the wheel hard one way or the other but not bad. you can still drive on the highway comfortably.|

|Wallygator||I have an 03. I put a 2 inch lift under it from BDS and it works well for me. With 33s it will rub occasionally but only when I get into some real heavy stuff. I'm thinking of either trimming the factory flares a bit or throwing on a set of flat fender bushwackers. Thatll solve the problem. Depending on what you are doing with the jeep. Mine is also my daily driver so i didn't want to get too carried away. I do take it done some pretty good trails and it handles them well.|

|jeepjones||Rubicon Express makes awesome suspension systems. Stay away from the body lifts if you can help it, and yes 4.10's is what you want for 33's|

Just kidding. You need to supply some more info like: what axles you have, what tranny, what you want to do with it, difficulty of trails, DD or trailer queen, etc for us to make educated responses.

You're going to have to put more info...for wheels/tires it really depends on the look/use that you want them for.
On suspension - it depends on how much you want to spend...for 33's most say the best setup is a 2-2.5'' suspension lift w/ a 1-1.25 Body lift. Brand? well there are many. one that seems to have the best rep is OME. But others are happy with their Rough country, etc...

Your best bet is to look and read thru the "Lift Review" sticky at the top. There's alot of reviews in there with pics as well as advice and pros/cons of the lift people chose.

advice on a TJ project
im in the process of getting an 01 wrangler sport. its completely stock right now...but not for long haha. i plan on lifting it and putting on some 33" tires soon. what name would you recommend from the tires to wheels to suspension? this one is going to see some trails. (im aiming to get the best bang for the buck as im on a budget too)
also, what would you suggest for audio components (for the future)?
