|jeepjones||My build sheet lists all the options available, the D44 was the one thing the guy who originally bought it did not order!|

[QUOTE=30-284;714938]Ya....... my 99 Sahara came with the 30" tire and dana 60 front and rear option.
Too bad the D60 was never an option!

|Wallygator||You should try it up herre in Canada. I had a seal leaking and decided to do the bearings at the same time and check for wear etc. The local JEEP dealership sent me the parts. They told me that the sahara NEVER came with a d44..... Guess what??? Got it apart and .. What do you know?? D44. A bit irritated because the dealership that i got my parts from said it wasnnt an option, but even tho I lost a day waiting for parts, happy that I had the 44. Dont go to a dealership.. go to someone who knows..|

As mentioned the easiest why to tell is look at the rear diff cover.
And as reference.....

|Green Bay TJ||I ordered my 2000 TJ Sahara from the factory - no inventory with everything I wanted at the time. Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear were standard with 30" wheel package. Dana 44 rear (only) was an option. Since I was using for a daily driver with little off-road, I opted for the ABS instead of the Dana 44 (I don't think both options were avalaible together).|

|Wildkarde||he was being sarcastic......|

I never heard tell of dana 60's coming stock in jeeps. Seems like over kill even with a 30 inch tire stock option.

There is a metal tag on the rear end in the 10 am postion, it will tell you what the rear end is as well as what gears.
I believe that the D44 only had the option of 3.73's but I could be wrong...

Just look at the rear end, rubber plug=dana 35, threaded plug=dana 44. Sahara came with either. Front were all dana 30.

|ford-willy||Someone told me that all Saharas had larger rear ends. I'm just learning. I am looking at a 01 Sahara and would like to know how can I tell. Is there a place where the VIN number can retrieve that info?|

No way to know with out A: looking at it or B: looking at a build sheet. It was optional to have a D44.
My 02 had the tire package and also had a D44...Got lucky when I bought it a couple of months ago.

|doclouie||My 2000 Sahara had the 30" tires and does not have a dana 44.|

|4Jeepn||For a YJ, was never an option.. For TJ yes some did. If it has the 30" tire pkg chance are it may have the dana 44 rear.|
|08-06-2010 07:09 PM|
|jeepjones||Bigger than what? And how?|
|08-06-2010 06:58 PM|
|EdJonesJeeper||No not all of them. Was a Dana 44 option for certain years but my 99' had a dana 35 in it which I did replace with a D44|

Sahara's-do they have stronger diffs & axles?
So Saharas have bigger rear ends and axles??????
