PTaylor The fan speed control switch and several items related seems to be a big problem reported by many people. I've replaced mine and rewired the connector because it melted. The seat cords and the pull string break easy. Bad paint for the hood. several components easily rusting.

drivebytruckerz I wouldn't consider the 2003 an early model.

4Jeepn I think you will find its more certain jeeps, than model years. The 97-99 exhaust manifold cracks on the 6cly, General isssues with the slide hvac controls, though all years seem to have problems with the fan switch. I have owne 1 97 2 2000's and 1 2001. Can't say any of them was worse than the others, in fact no massive issues.

That was a test. The Rubicon really wasn't introduced until 2004!

Just kidding.

I've also heard lots of people having problems with cracked heater matrixes leaking in the cab, anyone have any experience on this?

jeepjones Maybe it's a Rubiclone. Another thing to add to that list the front unit bearing setup sucks.

GoldTJ Perhaps the only 2000 Rubicon in the world! All accounts state that 2003 was the first year for Rubicon model!

Image Group I'd say you should have a lot of problems with a 2000 Rubicon... what was it a prototype?

5 most common problems with the TJ Jeep

I have heard some real horror stories about the early model TJ Jeeps - tranny failure, rear axle needing replacing after 40k, overheating etc.
I personally have only had a minor electrical problem with my 2000 rubicon Jeep and love it to bits.
What are the most common problems these Jeeps have?
