C. W. Rice Oh and yes the Nauset Beach is now re-opened for use. Just be sure you have the ORV permit, and the proper equipment. The beach patrols do check, for equipment and proper use on the beach, Speed limit no more than 15 mph.

C. W. Rice A while ago there was a post about Nauset Beach, saying that the 'beach shacks' there were abandoned, they are not. They are all privately owned and are not public property.

As private property they should be treated as such. Yes some of them look rustic and perhaps in your mind's eye abandoned, but they are not.

They were built as hunting and fishing camps, mostly in around 1920 to 1945. They do sit on Town of Orleans' lands but the structures, out buildings and so forth are controlled by private persons.

I should know as I am a Camp owner and a long time user of the beach, going back to a Willys Overland Station Wagon, up through more Jeeps (Cj-5, CJ-6 and so forth) than I can almost not forget.

Enjoy the dunes and the beach and all it brings, stay in the trails and bring off all your trash and other persons' as well. Thanks.

DakotaBuck Looks like fun - I'll have to get out there soon. How much of the Beach was drivable? The map on their website shows most of it is closed.
