Green Bay TJ This weekend I removed the factory side steps and Sahara side trim. Installed Olympic rock sliders with side step (for my wife and kid - the kid loves it to climb into the jeep). Green Bay TJ Hope this works. First time posting a picture. My 2000 TJ with the factory steps. Rear bumper already replaced. Will post another pic when I replace steps with rock sliders. I think upgrade to 31" offroad tires will be next.

phantomofrussia Welcome! Congratz on your own improvements. It is always much more rewarding to do something yourself. Not only do you save money(most of the time). Its just awesome to go and say, I did that!

530ktm Welcome. It is great to own some tools and do some of the work yourself. The more you attempt the more you succeed.

Hi. I joined the forum a couple weeks ago. Checked in on the Maryland site, but not here. I own a 2000 TJ, original owner, my 3rd Jeep (others were 1993 Cherokee that I kind of miss, and a Grand Cherokee that I don't). I have to say this site is amazing. I am planning on going on my first Jeep Jamboree in a couple months, and the TJ is getting some small upgrades. Normally I would have my local dealer's shop do the installs, but after looking at various threads, I decided to take on some stuff myself. Just finished removing a MOPAR class 1 hitch and the stock bumper, and replacing with a Bestop HighRock 4x4 rear bumper. Removing the rusted bolts (especially those where the nuts welded to hardware inside the frame or the jugs decided to break off) was kind of a PITA. Anyway, after a lot of work getting the old stuff off and very little work installing the new bumper, I can't believe I was going to pay the shop $100-$150 over the cost of the bumper to do that install. I didn't really save any money - had to buy tools, but those are now mine. But it is really satisfying to have done that work myself, knowing, yeah, I installed that bumper. Next project is side step removal and rock slider install. So, hi, and thanks for giving me the confidence to do it myself. BTW, regarding my username, I was originally from Wisconsin, and my TJ is green. During football season, it will be wearing either Packer helmut magnets or magnetic Packer emblems on the doors. It does not have a name, but if it did, I would probably call it Brett.
