Im running 31's on my 4cyl too. Everything is fine. Its pretty quick! And is fine offroad thats for sure!
When these tires go out and i get my 2.5" lift on im going to 35-37"s depeding on my funds but when I go that route im going to regear and reinforce the stock axles unless I can find some D44's

|jmielke||I am also new to the forum. I just picked up my '95 a few weeks ago. It has the 4 cyl. and I'm running 31x10.50's just fine. Everything is stock. Getting ready to do a 2 or 3" lift though. Was the rough country an easy install?|

I'm running 33s with the four cylinder stock gearing and mine is running good on the street, has decent take off and runs 60 just fine. I have not had it crawling yet, taking it to Colorado all next week though.
Oh and when I bought it it had 31s on it and did even better, you won't have any problems in my opinion

You can safely go up to 35's with your rig, but before that jump, you need to start thinking about "locking up" front and/or wheel axles.

Tire Size vs. Performance
I am new to the Jeep world and new to the forum. So far I've learned a ton by just reading all the great info here. So thanks for that.
I recently bought a completely stock 95 YJ 2.5L 4Cyl and I'm loving it (except for the lack of power maybe). It's my daily driver, mostly on the freeway during the week but I plan to do some off roading on weekends when it's ready.
I installed a Rough Country 2.5" lift kit last weekend. It made a huge difference in ride quality (the old suspension was shot, pretty much riding on the bump stops in back) and looks great too. Now I'm ready for new tires. I'm currently running 235/75R15's, and I'd like to go with 31" x 10.5". But I have a friend that says those would be too much for the wimpy 4 banger.
So my questions is how much will the bigger tires affect acceleration on the road and how much additional stress will they put on the engine compared to what I have now?
