I mention the above as it happen to me, spent days prepping, filling and painting my wheels just to have the wife spill gas on one.

I use my Jeep and what happens, happens.
Been rattle can painting for a long time and I'll continue, when they get scratched or damaged, I'll fix 'em up.
That being said, That's an excellent recommendation that you made. I will definitely consider using the clearcoat on the WJ when I do those wheels. Thanks......

Hate to burst the 'positive' bubble here, but the spray can paint and clear coats are really crappy stuff, this is because they are 1k products - no hardener/activators are needed for them to go hard. In short what this means is that if you spill gas or and kind of solvent on them, it will soften up and come off. I have even seen some wheel cleaner chemicals take the paint off.
It is always worth using 2k clear coat as they are as tough as the original powder coat finish and can only be removed using paint stripper or sanding it off.

I guess you could have the weights moved to the inside - but I know sometimes they can't quite get them 100% balanced that way - plus I have thrown those weights right off from the insides before fairly easily...
Just a thought - I was thinking about this today - and how they would look on my JK and weighing all the options.

So, I took InfernoGirls' advice, scuff, prime, paint.....
The rain came....
One finished wheel...
Next day, all done. Drove in the rain to work, so it's not clean...lol

Just watched a duplicolor video and InfernoGirl is correct.
All they did in the video was scuff, prime and paint.

|InfernoGirl||I've heard the same about the aircraft paint remover. But you don't need to strip it to paint them. Just clean them well, scuff it up to give it some tooth and paint away...|

Painting stock JK alloy wheels
Does anyone have any experience removing the enamel from stock alloy wheels? (aside from sandblasting)
It's been suggested that aircraft paint remover and a pressure washer would do the trick....any other ideas?
