Really bad tires never could trust em I swapped on a set of mud tires don't remember the brand but they worked great n lasted forever

Yeah, I found that part and there wasn't a 4 digit number. The UH11 is where is ends. I have taken pics of all the number around the sidewall. Maybe I am missing it since I am a newbie.

|bobjenkins||strange I had the same prob a couple years ago on same tires on my pickup, bad dry roting, I was driving to work one day and planning to get new tires the next and had a flat, so I changed the spare andd about 20 min down the road boom , boom two more flats . I live in az desert|

|popstop785||I'm at work right now, but I can get the mfg date when I hit up my lunch break along with the tire pressure. Also, the pressure is what Discount Tire set it at when they installed them... I believe so anyway. And what sets off the tire pressure warning light on the console? DId changing the tires change the sensor?|

|4Jeepn||It appears the rear tire(s) might have too much air pressure, as the center of the tire is worn more than the fronts are. Again what is the date of mfg on the tires..|

|popstop785||But why are they drying out? Granted, I live in a desert but it seems to be pulling apart like monkey bread. I guess they are just crap tires. Maybe they will let me switch to the silent armors... I really liked those even if they didn't look as rugged as I would like. At least they worked really well.|

|ESP||That looks like there drying out bad.. You can just pull pieces off = you need new tires pronto. Not safe.|

My Jeep has 25k miles on it and I have rotated the tires once since I got them a year ago (I checked the purchase date.. it was 8/13/2009) so it was around 15k i'm pretty sure, but I don't know for sure.
Alignment is good. I haven't had a problem with that yet. Then again the only big modification I have made to my Jeep has been the tires.

Front tires are mostly fine. There are a few chunks missing but hardly noticeable.

it's pretty rare to see a whole set of tires be defective, but it does happen. dodge did a recall on the crap continentals they put on the LX cars, that were wearing out in 15,000 miles.
have you had your alignment checked?

Well the insurance on the tires should cover replacements. I wonder if they would just trade me out some silent armor tires instead and prorate the difference... worth looking into. Either way, I get new tires... I just want to avoid the same thing happening over again.
I have a younger brother that has the same tires but almost a year longer than me. He has had them on a 4x4 F-150 for nearly the whole time and just recently moved them over to a new 2x4 F-150 he just got. The tires look flawless and they have seen more miles put on them than mine. More towing traveling etc. and they look great.

When you say sand do you mean like beach sand or really soft dirt? What I normally ride in is your standard desert dirt and rocks. I had some silent armor good year tires on my last 06 Jeep and never had a problem. I think I pushed those tires harder than the one I have now.
The PSI... it's been the same since the tires have been put on. I suppose they use the nitro air stuff in them. The little tire pressure warning light has never come on but once which I think was a fluke as it only flashed for a few seconds and hasn't been back.
I'm heading out to take some pics right now.

|JDsDream||What PSI are you running? Are you airing down before hitting the sand and airing back up before hitting the pavement again? It is really hard to say without actually seeing them and even then it might be tough to diagnose.|

Tires falling apart :/
I have 33's BFGoodrich T/A KO tires on Stock 17in wheels. (I have a picture in my Jeep profile). The rear tires are actually falling apart (I've owned them for just over a year). There are chunks falling off and it's starting to look bad. I do nothing out of the ordinary. To me ordinary is the occasional offroading in the desert. Not as much as I would and not as hard as to overheat my Auto tranny in 110F degree weather.
I will get some pictures of them as soon as the sun come back up so everyone can see what I am talking about. So I guess my question is, why? Why are the tires falling apart? Is it something I am doing? I don't know what I could possibly be doing that could shred tires like that, even more so when, sadly, the majority of my driving is on city streets.
