|TheQuest||i just noticed that the collar does not move smoothly from one axle half to the other. it is off by just the littlest bit. You can still slide it over but need to wiggle a little. ideas?|

|NAVYCHIEF||this is what i did well over a year ago. i have han no problems. note the spring in the upper lh pic. it insures the yolk stays over and gives it a little movement but not too much.|

Did you make sure the fork was locked all the way as far as it would go?
If there is any slack it could be slipping back enough to just have the edge of the teeth catching..
What did you use to keep the fork over?

If the front shaft is spinning and you've got no 4WD and the shift fork is deinatly locked and engaged then thats bad. My buddys grand cherokee just started doing that, and it turned out that he was stripping the pumpkin gears.
I'd take the diff cover off and inspect the gearing inside

moved my collar and locked my fork. problems?
My front shaft spins in 4x4 but my tires wont turn!
Im not getting any vacuum at all to my shift motor. It doesnt switch from one nipple to the other or anything. I thought it be easiest to just lock my fork and collar in place. The only problem with that is that i went to go test it out on a small hill i could hear what sounds like gears grinding. I was afraid to push it any further. My front tires would pull and seize and pull. so i gave up.
ANy idea why i still cant get any my 4x4 working? or why the gears are grinding? ive looked on a dozen threads about locking the fork but havent found any answer.
