mckinley4371 Yep. Pretty straight forward. Got the seals replaced and everything back in. And I did all the replacements in your last sentence this week. Now, if I can just keep the engine from dying at stop signs I'll be good (but that's another thread).

Just completed this procedure the other day. Went pretty smoothly. The case between the transfer case and the transmission is considered to be an adapter. The weep whole is designed to let you know that one or both of your input and output shaft seals are shot cause either trans fluid to escape from the transmission or fluid to escape from the transfer case. The adapter is not meant to have fluid in it at all but if it does, it tells you that you've got a bad seal. It's a pretty straight forward process to pull both of the seals and replace. Disconnect all electrical plugs from the transfer case. Disconnect vent tube from top of transfer case. Disconnect front and rear driveshafts. Drop transfer case. Replace both seals. Reinstall. After all this, I was able to successfully stop my transmission fluid leak. Now onto the RMS, oil pan gasket, and the valve cover gasket, cause I don't know which of them is leaking oil!

Zack Nobody on this forum seems to be able to provide answers to these types of questions I have found. Every thread I look at like this goes unanswered.

98wranglertj I have the same issue, walk out to jeep and huge puddle on floor...it is leaking out of that small at the rear of the transmission and just in front of the transfer case...What is the problem???

kirok It looks like what I'm looking at is my tranfer case. Where it ties into the tranny. Not sure what this hole is for exactly. I am assuming it's a blown seal or bad bearing. Still would like to know what this hole is for? If anybody has any insight, please let me know? T/Y

Transmission leak

I had a pretty good leak in my auto-tranny for my 93. I removed the skid plate and cleaned off the bottom of the tranny with some brake cleaner. I started my vehicle and let it run for about 10 minutes or so. I shut the jeep down, and looked back under the vehicle. I did not notice any leaking from the vent or front, I made my inspection to the back and noticed a small hole dead center in the casing, just after the tranny mount, but before the transfer case. It was leaking pretty good. It doesn't seem to be a crack or anythng. In fact it looks something like a weep hole. The hole is about the diameter of a # 4 sheet metsl screw, maybe a bit smaller. Whatever it is, I believe I may have a blown seal somewhere near the leak. Not sure if its in the transfer case or the end of the transmission. Can anyone give me any insight as to what this hole may be? It seems to be originally machined that way.
