Walkingstick It's illegal where I live but I still drive with no mirrors and doors. But I'm a good driver/motorist. So the fuzz doesn't notice me.
If you're passing through NC, here's a warning. State Troopers will pull you over if you are not a resident of the state, so watch your speeds and mind your actions.
Same goes for SC. had a ST pull me over in a completely unmarked vehicle. It was a 1990s Lincoln. Gave me a false ticket, he wrote the ticket it said 75 in a 55. I was doing 60 uphill in 4th with dirty fuel injectors.
Next time this happens I'm going to ask for his ID number, and contact the CO and dispute it. If they keep up with false ticketing, I'm going to sue their asses off if it happens again.

cavediverjc I've been driving with the top off in Kansas for the last 3 years or so and haven't had a single issue with running sans mirrors. You've gotta be doing something STUPID for a LEO to pull you over and cite you for no mirrors. Drive responsibly and they'll leave you alone...

daveblev thanks everyone for the replies.
in our little town of 300 or so, i probably won't be concerned. if i go to the big city, maybe i'll stick an old motorcycle mirror in the door hinge. i suppose that would work.

FguyTJ Kansas law requires you to have 2 mirrors, and one of them HAS to be the outside drivers side with the other either being the rear view on the windshield, or outside passengers side.

That being said, I haven't run any mirrors on my jeep other than the rear view when the doors are off for the better part of 6 years now, as long as your not driving like an idiot and/or cutting people off I've found that most of the cops around Wichita will leave you be... just be sure to look over your shoulder when lane changing.

edit: you could do like some do and pick up mirror designed to be shoved into the top door hinge when the doors are off, takes about 5 seconds to shove it in the hole after you pull the door off.

does anyone know if it's legal to run without outside mirrors in kansas? mine are currently mounted to my doors, and if i'm not illegal, i won't relocate them.
