I see new takeoff 17s going for $500, and new takeoff 18s going for $750.
The asking prices are usually $700-$1250.
I found a set of new takeoff 17s with TPMS for $650.
It always seems like the good deals come a day late, I already ordered my 17x8.5 and 175-70-17s when I found a new set of 17s for $400. Not exactly the look I want, but $400 for a set of new takeoffs sure beats my 16s.

|Dukebd21||ive seen some rubicon 16x8's. would those be the best bet and fit no problem? Also, what is the max u would pay for 5 16x8 rubicon wheels?|
|05-19-2011 08:40 AM|
|InfernoGirl||Yes, you need 16" wheels to fit a 16" tire.|

|homebrwd||if you want those tires you ahve to have a 16in wheel, hence the 16 at the end of the size. If you want to run rubicon wheels you need a tire with a 17 at the end.|

ok so i'm looking to upgrade wheels and tires for my 08 2dr jk x. Ive got around a $1100 price range. I'm looking at the wrangler duratrac tires or a nice all terrain as its my dd. The 265/75/16 are pretty cheap and i think theyll be a bigger improvement. Id like to buy some rubicon wheels but am not sure if theyll fit.. I'm seeing a lot of 17 sizes. I'm assuming they wont fit on that size duratrac.
What shud I be looking for as I don't want to buy a set of wheels and then have them not fit. Its either slightly used rubi wheels or some cheaper new soft 8's.
Any advice on a combo that would work?

i did the same thing. i have a sahara and swapped them for rubicon wheels and tires.
i found mine locally in east TN, rubicon wheels, tires, and rock rails for $800 total, and only had a couple thousand miles on them from what i could tell (he said less than 1k but i seriously doubt it)
ended up selling my sahara wheels and tires for $400 and my steps for $100
so i grossed $300 for my conversion.

As of right now I have a "No non OEM wheels" direction from the wife. I sort of have a reputation for messing with our cars which is OK if its mine but she is tiring of them on her car. The Jeep is the shared "fun" vehicle but I am trying not to push things at first. I am just swapping out the Sahara 18" with 17" of the Rubicon as I like them better, just a personal preference.
Wish I would have thought of it during the purchase as I would have negotiated it as well but it was sort of a spur of the moment purchase.
Thanks again everyone!

A thing that is certainly worth considering.
None of the stock wheels are worth a poop in regard to mounting larger tires. (opinion, mine...)

|Luvwine1||No, sorry, in Atlanta area. I negotiated the tire and wheel upgrade as part of the purchase of the jeep. Seemed like a fair price--perhaps wholesale. Still, you can always do better used if you find a motivated seller...|

I'd pay 600 for a brand new set of 5.

|Luvwine1||I got the mountain wheels and tires new from the dealer for $900. The Rubicon wheels would have been the same price.|

I'm in VA so I think any deal we figure out will be impacted by shipping.

I would offer him a bit less than what you are willing to pay for them then go from there. Price is going to mildly fluctuate based on the demand in your area.

|Marcus||There are much nicer wheels available aftermarket.|

|GREEN-MACHINE||my mountain rims and tires where an $1450 option, make me an offer. 1800 miles on them. i just dropped the jeep of at the 4x4 shop for my ox locker and 3.5 lift. the shop has a nice set of 35's i'de like but their $950 . lets work out a deal.|
|08-29-2010 07:15 PM|
Yes, its the wheels and tires.
His ad says "make an offer" and was thinking of offering $500. I'll then need to sell the ones of my wife's '10 Sahara.

|daggo66||I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for mountain wheels. How much is he asking for the Rubicon wheels and tires?|
|08-29-2010 06:59 PM|
|ESP||Do you mean the wheels or the tires? If its just for the wheels then no more $200 but if its for the tires then anywhere between $500-750 tops. I see the wheels and tires together for around $600 frequently.|

I found someone selling Rubicon wheels off their '10 Rubicon, the tires have less than 500 miles on them. What's the going rate for a set of 5 wheels and tires?
Also, I'd really like to get a set of the wheels off the Mountain Edition as I prefer the darker wheels. I tried to search through the forums to see how often they show up for sale but I couldn't find any in my searches. Any one seen them on the forum?
