A split boot is no reason to feel you will need a new Pitman arm in the future, you can relax about your split boots. Most TJs on the road probably have split grease boots on them.
A dropped Pitman arm just has more of a height difference between where it is attached to the steering box and to the drag link. Some people incorrectly think they are needed any time a suspension lift is installed which is not true where the Wrangler TJ is concerned.
The below photo shows a dropped Pitman arm from the side.

Yes because of the split boot. I wasn't going to replace now. I'm just foreseeing an issue down the road and figured I'd ask (because it is fresh on my mind since I just noticed it Saturday).
What is a DROPPED pitman arm? Sorry, not familiar with the term.... is that for someone who lifts the vehicel (as in lift-kit)?

Why do you believe you need a new Pitman arm?
Hopefully not simply from that split grease boot problem. If you're thinking you need a dropped Pitman arm, you likely don't and if you don't actually need one, installing a dropped Pitman arm will just cause bump steer... a steering problem you don't want.

puller to remove it. add penetrating oil, as it never hurts. An impact wrench to get it back on
I've replaced pitman arms on tons of vehicles and never needed a press.

|4Jeepn||just need a puller, most auto parts stores will loan you one free of charge. If you put it back in the same exact spot should not need an alignment.|

Pitman Arm change out
How hard is it to change the Pitman Arm on a 2002 Wrangler 4.0L?
Do you need to do an alignment after this?
I noticed there is a small tear in the rubber boot that holds grease. I know it is only a matter of time before it goes bad...
I also have a small tear in my DS outer tie rod end... I know I need to align after replacing it...
