98SPORT Doorless is the only way to trail ride. Did it last weekend and had I had the doors on I wouldn't have seen the bear playing in a creek. Way cool!!

Throw the nuts in your glovebox and forget them, problem solved

I've been running doorless since May, been rained on once or twice, but throwing the top up takes care of that for the most part. Besides, sitting there dripping wet and using a squeegee on the inside of the windshield while the guy in the fancy luxury car sitting next to me at the light shaking his head, always makes me laugh

Yes and no... remove the nuts and don't put them back on. Or do as I did...remove the nuts and cut off the exposed threads on the hinge so it looks nicer and isn't as obvious that the hinges are "neutered". Your doors will be fine without the nuts on them...the only difference is now a thief doesn't need to carry a 1/2" wrench with him to get your door off.

Anyone have the rusted-on-door problem? I've beat them, and PB blasted them, and yanked and pulled and beat them some more, but to no end. I've considered just replacing all my hinges anyway, got a deal for all door hinges for 130$, and then once the doors off, realllly put a beating on it....
I had this problem bad. Apparently the PO never removed the doors (the guy must be lame). For over a week everynight I hit the hinges with lube and the weather was nice.... ALL WEEK. Me and my brother tried together to remove the doors but they never would budge. Eventually I just snapped... un-bolted the doors from the hinges, then took a hammer to the bottoms of the hinges to wack them off (took about 5-10 mins). Afterwards I took a metal file to them - never a problem since.

Pool table, air hockey table in my garage...no room for the jeep..lol

I've got to leave it outside..so my top and doors would go almost every nite..Especially down here in FL, the humidity. I wake up in the morning most days and dew has covered everything..even w/o rain, my seats would be soaked by the morning dew...

You should just show them the sticker that clearly states the doors are not for protection in accidents and are solely for protection from the elements (rain, snow, etc).

I haven't had my doors on in over a month...if it rains, I just put the top up.

Try parking flat. sitting inside the door (not on the seat) on the entry rail and use your calves to push up on the door , you should shut the door as much as you can while trying, I had the same prob then they popped right off

Trying to lift the doors farther from the hinge doesnt work, lift as close to the hinge that you can

birdhunter Ha
Another cherry popped

use a small 2x4 and the jack
use close to the hinges go slow and
dont bend the hinge
also use pb blaster let it sit over night

I put WD40 on mine and they slid off so maybe if you put some on there and let it sit over night it may help.

InvertChaos I went doorless for the first time awhile back myself! I have those long stemmed mirrors that ^ is talking about. They just fit into the top hinge, then stay put with a single nut. Works great and keeps the cops at bay :P

read somewhere about using long stem harley mirrors in the hinge. guy at work is bringing in his old set to see how it works-his daughter just got a jeep also-but doubt she'll be going door less.

Booger's Jeep I just put the doors back on after 9 days. I managed to loose the fuse in the process. I planned on making a switch anyway.

On a side not though. I wear prescription glasses and it was always feeling like they were going to blow off my face. Doors are back on now. Had a door hinge project going with it that has a real long thread here.

Had my fuse pulled out also. Everything else still seemed to work. My manual says the light goes out in 20 minutes. Not letting it do that.
yea man for some reason and with my luck i dont think it will go off so the fuse stays out lol

lol dude i tried that but the gf wasnt having it, said she could barely keep her cap on. im sure ill convince her later. question, when riding with your windshield down, does anything hit your face? (bugs, small debris)
08-30-2010 10:34 AM
mrcarcrazy Yup, on my 01 TJ it stays on about 5 mins (rough estimate). then turns off. (well apparently its 20 mins, I'm not good w/ time)

I now have a switch installed. As removing the fuse eliminates the door open w/ key in ignition reminder and the headlight reminder.(the headlight reminder being d/c'd allowed me to kill my battery 3x now....somewhat embarassed about that one) I really need to relocate the switch, as the ol lady's foot has a way of finding it.
