minigfather You said you checked all your wires. where did you check them at? The amp or other connections? If you only checked them at the amp also check your ground and other cables to see if they have come loose.

Kohrs93 Ok thanks. If it does it again I'll look into it.

Ibuildembig Ummm yes and no. Depending on how old it is and if he bought it new, the shop should over the counter exchange it (at least that's my policy here). If its out of warranty, bought online, or from an individual it can be repaired by sending it off to the factory...but usually the price is more than half the cost of replacement. The process is usually called reconing...the only thing reused is the basket and magnent...everything else gets replaced

Kohrs93 After checking all the wires it seems to be doing fine right now, I have to go pick up my girlfriend in a little bit so if it does it again I'll have a friend come over so i can test his sub. I'm assuming the voice coil is soemthing inside the sub? Never heard of it. If that was the case, is it fixable? and how muc would it be to fix? But is there any other advice you can give me?

kj 92yj hey thats funny, we must have posted at the same time. i was trying to agree with big.......but you have another sub or a friend with a sub you could switch it out with? this would reduce your trouble spots to either the amp or the sub.

kj 92yj thats a good point!^^^^^^^^^^^^^ didn't think of that.

Kohrs93 I haven't noticed my lights dimming, and i haven't noticed it getting scratchy either. I just checked all the fuses and wires and they all seem good.

Ibuildembig Sounds like the voice coil is fixing to let it scratchy sounding too when it changes pitch?

kj 92yj i have a little experience in this field. do your lights dim etc when the bass hits? if so, and with this going on as well, your alternator may be having a hard time keeping up with the current draw. that could and would lead to weak bass.

Sub bass keeps changing pitch WTF?!?!

I'm running a 10" pioneer sub and i have an 800 watt amp pushing it. Two days ago it started changing the pitch of the bass. For example, one minute it will be hitting like its supposed to, then the next it will have a really weak bass, then it will change to a medium sounding bass. I can't for the life of me figure out why it would be doing this. Can anyone point me in the right direction???
