Contrary to richp, don't use anything Auburn off road.
The clutch and cone system can wear out very quickly if you lift a tire and get it spinning. I have seen too many of them fry over the years. Their warranty is a joke. You pay ???$ and send them your diff. They send you a new diff. Not bad until you realize that it's not the same diff and you have to set it up again at your expense.
Their Ected locks thru the clutches and if a clutch wears out, your locker is gone. They also only use the last 9/16" of the axle shaft when in the limited slip mode and axle spines are getting stripped off.
The Truetrac limited slip unit is by far the best LSD out there. It's gear driven and won't wear out. They work really well but they're not a locker.

I know that LSD are not true lockers to hard core off roaders but my rebuild will be used as a weekend warrior and part time daily driver. It needs to have good on road manners and I cannot justify the out lay for a switchable locker. Has anyone had experience with either the detroit truetrac or suretrac locker. I am looking at putting one of these in the rear scout d44 axle. Any thoughts would be welcome.
