markharmon Follow up! Turns out the used pump had been sitting on a shelf for 5 years. Seller said connect direct to battery and hit with a mallet. It worked! Guess the motor brushes were stuck, mallet shook them loose and motor works. Of course the did mean I had to drop the tank again. Well it's all back together and I ran around the neighborhood on Saturday. It ran straight and true. I had to also replace altenator and resolder a wire so that the brake lights worked. Need to flush radiator, replaces hoses and fix emergency brake. Then it will time to hit the main road to test....

SquareLite are you sure the pins didnt get bent in the fuel pump harness? i'd check the connection first. its possible to completely fasten the clip on the harness without the pins making contact. ask me how i know. if that doesnt work, hotwire the pump with a 12v battery. even a 12 or 14v drill battery will work. process of elimination is your friend.

markharmon Well it didn't go so well. I dumped in some gas and hit the key. No fireing? Neighbor came over to help. We started at the front, dump gas in carb. Jeep fired up. checked fuel filter, no gas. Pull tank and pump. Pump not working. I bought it used on Craigslist. Gambled $40. Got guarentee...but who knows if he will honor. New plan is to fix old one. One of the tubes broke when I pulled the tank. Neighbor thinks he might be able to clean it up and solder on a new tube. If not I'll be ordering a $200 replacement.

rockie help with reinstalling gas tank

I have a 95 yj that I had to pull the tank inorder to fix frame. Tonight it was time to reinstall the tank. After a 1.5 hour fight it's in and almost all the bolts and nuts tighten down. I had to use a bar and jack to get it moved around to where the bolt holes lined up. One thing I didn't watch and thought about afterwards is I didn't make sure the fuel lines were down in the molded valley's in the top of the tank. Any chance that could be a problem? Anyone know how much room there is between the tank top and jeep floor? Is it normally that hard to put a tank back it?
