exavid Darn, does it make me a doofus because I have NRA stickers on my TJ and anti-Obama bumper stickers? I guess I'm a poser with motorcycles too because I have a Gadsen flag on the back of my Goldwing. I have a different look at things than some here, if I bought and paid for something I'll decorate it or not as I please. I don't decorate the .40 I carry though.

If a person buys a Jeep, they can do whatever they darn well please to it, It's no one elses's business.

Our tastes may not be the same, but that's what makes us all individuals.
When I read stuff like this it makes me want to take my trail rig out, yank the bumpers, corners, hi lift and steps, have them chromed, and plaster it with decals proclaiming that it's MY Jeep thing and I'll do with it as I dang well please!

I'd like to see what that guy's Jeep looks like and furthermore - I wonder how his living room looks.
That's right! I got my jeep for a lot of reasons and not one of them is to take it off road. I'll rent someone else's to rag on. I like the boxy look of the jeep and I love being able to decorate it and change things out the way i want. There is no other vehicle on the market that have more options to change the look of it. And I absolutely can't wait to go topless and doorless in the summer.
SO THERE!

arky absolutely crap article.... to each his own!!!! who cares!!!! if you are into jeeping you gotta have a bit of redneck in ya! No matter where you are from. I'm not into nascar per say, but it's a Motorsport. It beats tree hugging! I guess I'm a redneck cause I like doing things myself instead of buying some one else's she'itttt and i like the plastic bull balls. Loved the grenades and love even more a piece of chain with 40 mm nuts hanging off of them. It says you dont give a f!@# about political correctness and all the BS that goes along with it. Flame away posers

2Gringos I'm buying a light bar. I ain't gonna put lights on it, but plan to use it as part of a home made roof rack.
03-09-2013 09:21 AM
TexasJeepGirl I agree with a lot of those... except the bit about taillight guards. Mine have actually protected my taillight from a huge rock... plus, they look COOL!

Also, the bit about light bars. I agree that the grand majority of owners will never use them, but I have been out with rigs that actually use them, and I was very thankful for the extra light they throw on a night trail run!

Senojelyk This is like an article about how to make it look like you take your jeep off road for real and not as a poser.. I don't really agree with any of it. You buy things for your Jeep cause you want/need them. Who cares what anyone else thinks?
03-09-2013 07:05 AM
2Gringos This thread reminds me of a thread on a boating and fishing forum some years back about wearing Crocs shoes on boats. It was amazing how many grown men pay way too much attention to another man's choice of footwear.

jimmy_buckle I am intending to buy a snorkel in the next month....because I am in Australia and if I go wheeling I am likely to be doing some river crossings.....I think that justifies it

I used my lightbar extensively. Im in the south and we have a lot of Open Land, in which you need lights in order to see. Otherwise you wind up in a massive drainage ditch. <<< happened to some poor bastard in a Pickup

jdeere05 4. High lift jacks mounted to the face of the front or rear bumpers. We see this situation all the time and it just screams "I don't take my Jeep off road". Those few individuals we have seen on the trail with their jacks mounted this way really haven't thought things through. Heavy duty trail bumpers are made for a reason, to protect the front or rear of the Jeep from impact with rocks, trees, your buddies Jeep, etc. Mounting one of the arguably most important tools you can carry in harms way is just plain foolish. On one outing we warned a guy with us that having his high lift jack on the bumper was asking for trouble. Sure enough he got a flat and proceeded to remove his jack from it's ridiculous mounting location only to find out that the beam of the jack was bent (from bouncing off a large boulder earlier in the day) and therefore the jack was rendered useless. He soon started asking for someone to loan a jack so that he could change his tire. Good thing he wasn't out on some lonesome forest service road alone or he would have been out of luck.

im guilty of this , but in my defense thats how it came when i got her so until i get the new bumpers thats where she will stay for now and pray i dont tag a tree and bend it..

What FUN

Great post on a great forum. Saw a CJ8 pickup that was 27 years old today. I stopped and talked with the guy...learned that they still make them for the Isreali army, amongst other things. Before i came to this forum i'd barely notice one jeep from another. After reading this post i saw some far out rides. I liked the remote light up bouncy rig a whole lot, the bumper stickered up one was kinda cool too. The pimped yellow one was awesome. I'd never do any of it to a rig of mine, but i don't mind looking at a Picaso either. Never would hang a Picaso in my house...i prefer old time black and white photos of tuff ole time coots doing stuff like logging, or fishing and the like. But i digress. I still haven't matched my funds with a decent first jeep yet, but i know i want it to have eye appeal...even it's only my eyes. But still, i'd like to help inspire others, and at the same time, don't mind a little attention from others. I'm practical, and overkill on things...that's me and that's how my first Jeep will be. It will be lifted at least 4" and have a Snorkel, lights on top for night beach rides. I won't be climbing boulder mountains, but boulder strewn beaches are common where i go fishing here. I'm glad folks climb boulder mountains for no other purpose than to just do it...it's just not for me. But when packs of boulders are in my way...it will be nice to be able to navigate them and that's why i want a rig i can do stuff too and that's why i want a Jeep. A muddy jeep makes for an awesome mall crawler BTW... and even though a pimped Jeep might not preform as it's intended, i'm still glad they where inclined to do it to a Jeep, instead of a thousand other vehicles to choose from. They chose a Jeep and that's a compliment in my book.

CrazyBull I put on the useful, the careful, and the stupid. Once I get it about where I want it... I can de-gaudify it. LOL

Jeeplover1 I paid for my jeep so i get to put all the mall krawler stuff i choose! Wow that felt good lol

sprucetrap I don't think I have seen a single mod in here that decreases the performance..... except for the electric fuel pump that used to be on mine

Im right there with you on that one. I see stuff on jeeps all the time that I think is pointles of just down right goofy. Im still not going to tell someone they waisted money on something just because I dont like it. Some people are quick to do that or even worse tell them it would have been beter if they did it difrent.

O_M_Jeep First I'll say Ive done a few of those, anyone who buys a Jeep and doesnt spend as much time in the forums as in their Jeep will be guilty of a few of them, if you dont spend all your time reading about what everyone else thinks is cool and do what you like then you will have done a few of these as well.

Jeeps are the most accesorized vehicle on the planet, if you have any doubts, look at the industry that is there just to sell us parts, we Jeep owners support more businesses outside the dealship than any other vehicle on earth ! ! ! ! HELL YEAH ! !

I dont watch NASCAR, fine if you do, I dont watch or like football either, again, no judgments, I just have other things I prefer to do with my time when I have some.

To be contrary, I do like the forums, Im on most of the main forums and a few local ones, its nice to be able to help out and try to have agenda free advice for someone having trouble, I dont pay much attention to the opinions of others so Ive had a lot of dumb stuff on my Jeep.

My Jeep had had a lot of stuff on it as it has grown and become what it wanted to be, I can almost relate it to a kid, I sat back, wrote the checks and watched it grow, it was awesome! (would hae been more awesome if it had grown like Christine and didnt make me do all the work and bleed all weekend lol).

Kate, bravo for being the first to stand up and say 'its mine and I'll paint it green & pink if I want to' (paraphrasing of course, I like pink, glad the wife is on the title so I have an excuse lol).

If all our Jeeps were the same why would we have them? I know lots of kids of employees at Quadratec, Morris4x4, 4Wheelparts, Smittybuilt, Bestop, Rampage, Rugged Ridge, and all the lift kit people from my favorites at RC to Currie are depending on us to put them through college, they are living their lives and whether they wheel or not we all share a common love, the Jeep.

We are all in this Jeep thing together, and while we may not always understand each other, we always understand our Jeep thing.
05-19-2012 12:25 PM
sprucetrap I guess I'm pretty tolerant but My pet peeve is anyone who lowers a 4x4. Oh, I guess my other one is people who ruin the bed of their truck by sticking stacks through them. I used to be a contractor so I know the importance of having 4x8 feet to work with. But if it does not ruin the function, pimp it out!
12-22-2011 03:23 PM
caseyjoe wtf? Its funny how the reaction from me is just the opposite that was expected. I decal saying "Im an insecure D.B" would be cheaper. imo but when aftermarket parts hinder the function and intended use of a 4x4...its dumb and screams D.B

Scratch On another note, I specifically bought my Jake to take my fat butt in to prospecting country. That means streams and those streams can turn in to a raging torrent overnight. Not that I'm going to ford a raging torrent anytime soon, but a snorkel might serve me well. At least well enough I won't have to justify it to anyone.
