Thanks. Checked out the Mopar video and I saw it was for the previous top design with the plastic slide in track sides. The new tops have a 1/16" cable up the sides that does'nt really give much structual support when loose or folded back. It appears that the previous design with the plastic slide in pieces gave the fabric a bit of rigidity out at the ends and helped prevent gravity from pulling the fabric into the middle of the rear seat compartment.
I'm ALL for the easier to deploy new cable design. I'll take another look and see if I'm missing something on the way to fold it back properly. I will probably look for a heavy duty plastic "chip clip" to bind the layers of roof material together and keep them from sagging and blocking the rear window view from the review mirror

I installed the Bestop Sunrider soft top from Mopar yesterday
I must say that the instructions provided by Mopar were sub-standard as others have noted. They were photo copies that were assembled by someone who couldn't read. Pages were upside down, double sided, multi-lingual and out of order. I had to re-photo copy them again just to get the pages readable. It helped to have the parts list pages printed out seperatly so I could refer to them as I was trying to decifer the sort of/ kinda step by step instructions.
I consider myself a technical and mechanical minded person and struggled at times with the Mopar instructions.They had parts ID'd wrong with steps missing. The artist's renderings were not detailed enough and flat out wrong at times. I tried to find another PDF source on the web but appearently only Mopar sells the "Sunrider" top for the 4-door Unlimited at this time? Maybe Bestop could put a corrected PDF version of the install on their site for the "self-installers" among us.
After about 3 hours, I got'er done. This install should definitely be done in warm weather and the temps were in the sunny mid 80's for me At first the fit was a bit tight as expected but in the end it looked great!
You do get what you pay for.
One question on the Sunrider top: when the front section is folded back (open) the fabric tends to droop and block the view of the back window thru the rearview mirror. Has any one come up with a fix for this such as a clip or something to keep the fabric gathered together so it doesn't sag when folded back in the "Sunrider" position?

|Tiki Tim||My trektop still does not seem to fit right in the back, if one side holds then the other Velcro will not hold after I drive for a bit. I am on my third trektop and the last was replaced because it fit even worse then this. Does anyone else have this problem?|

I think you'll be happy with that decision. The 2010 factory top is what we call the "cable top." It uses a spring and cable system to hold the front Sunrider part down, so it's way easier to use.
Plus it uses the factory windshield header, the factory door surrounds, and the heavier fabric. It's a good top.
Bestop makes that too, by the way.

Thank you for your replies. I spoke to Mopar and they are taking back the new unfinished Trek Top under warranty and I'm purchasing the redesigned for 2010 factory Bestop Sunrider soft top.
Mopar has them instock in Milwaulkee and it'll only take a few days to get it so we can run topless while it's still warm enough here. I thought about buying one from the web but was concerned that I wouldn't get the latest design and/ or get one with missing parts and no warranty.
Cost an extra grand (not the few hundred $$ extra I thought!) but once bitten, twice shy

Customer service is at 800-845-3567.
But you purchased through MOPAR, so you're covered all the way around. Just have your local dealer take care of it.
I didn't realize MOPAR was selling the Trektop.
The Trektop had an awkward and badly managed launch. But that was over two years ago. We've been selling thousands of that top, and the complaint, problems and returns have been very low.
Obviously we messed up on this one, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Since you're in the JK section, I'd say you might be barking up the wrong tree, trust
I love my first gen. Sure it doesn't fit like a glove, especially when it's cold, but it's a Jeep- I've suffered worse with factory parts.
To the OP, have you called Bestop? That WILL be replaced under warranty, for sure! It really is a nice top, and it looks killer. Let them cover you on this- if #2 is crap, THEN start looking for another avenue. In trading up, you'd lose some $$, so I wouldn't say jump on that- Mark W.

|Tiki Tim||I have the trektop, and although it looks awesome I would not recommend it to anyone. I have had it replaced twice and it still does not fit correctly. Makes me sad that I wasted $600 on it, should have bought a top off of craigslist.|

TREK TOP issues
New here and love the Jeep. We just received a new Bestop Jeep Unlimited TREK TOP. I was almost complete with the installation then found out that that the rear window hanger bar ( J- Bar ) was not installed at the factory on the top.
What a major disappontment
There was a chalk line was on the inside of the top where the J hook channel should have been sewn in but I guess this one made it past the QC inspectors on Friday at 3:30 PM. (Shop order # 561985)
What an overall hassle to remove the hard top, get to the end of the soft top install, remove everything, then re-install the hard top. Practice makes perfect.
Since I purchased this thru the Mopar dealer when we got the vehicle new a few weeks ago I'm not sure of my options. Maybe Bestop would step up to the plate and let us return the unused/ unfinished Trek Top and a few extra Benjamin's in exchange for a 2010 factory Sunrider soft top for our aggravation?
