|RBatman||Good job on the race, I just got back from my brother's house in Wichita. He lives near the base and I got to see a lot of the Air Show, my brother is also currently in the Marine Corp, just finished 8yrs, and was also working the show. His MOS is 0311, infantry, but he is currently a recruiter. SGT Diepenbrock. Anyway, good job on the race and thanks for the service!!!|

|cavediverjc||Thanks! I'm making the most out of my military medical retirement. I get free education for life. That's pretty cool. Not necessarily worth getting blown up for, but at least the gov't is trying to compensate me for my injuries. I don't regret a minute I spent in the military. I loved it and I miss it every day. I loved my job and would still be doing it if they would let me. There are plenty of privately owned companies that will pay handsomely for my skillset, so add professional pilot to that skillset and the military has set me up for success......|

|ammoniaman||Congratulations! Oh yeah and good job on the race.|

The run is done. I placed 3rd in my age group (30-39) out of a couple hundred runners. Not too bad for someone with a reconstructed leg and an Army surgeon telling me I'd never run again after he put me back together. (Sometimes a small anti-authority attitude can be a good thing!)
As soon as that ortho surgeon told me I'd never jog let alone run again, my anti-authority attitude was saying "f**k you, I'll do it just to prove you wrong."
Anyways, it was good to be running in an organized run again, even if it was only a 5k. I almost forgot how much fun it is. Plus I got another cool t-shirt. That's motivation enough right there!

Now I wish I wasn't working.

Sorry bud,, I'm a runner but just getting back to jogging again after my knee surgery.
That and I have to work the Air Show here on base.
Did I ever tell you the McConnell Air Show is 25th/26th?

The Wildcat Run is this Saturday (25th) if anyone's interested. It's only a 5k, but all the proceeds go to United Way, so it's a good cause. Don't know if there are any other runners on the forum, so I thought I'd at least post it up in case anyone's interested. If you are, let me know and I can get you a sign-up form. Race starts at 8:00 am with sign-in at 7:00. It's $15 or $12 if you pre-register. And you get a shirt.
-EDIT- The run is in Salina.
