AKantipodean Ccain has this thread and link on kill switches. Though the trunk monkey system looks more gratifying.

KeeblerKO Give Suburban Auto Group a call. While the Jeep doesn't really have a trunk, they might have a Trunk Monkey version that is compatible with a TJ.....

coop42 Check out the lock boxes that bolt under your seat on quadratec. Oh yeah, you could always move out to the island. It's a little more civilized. Good luck.

GoldTJ Get a pet rattlesnake and throw it in a plexiglass box with a top that falls off when you move it!

"New" Used Jeep in NYC -- Safety Measures?

First off, welcome all. I hope to learn a lot here eventually.

I am lucky enough to inherit my father's 2000 Sahara with only 45k miles (he just ordered a new 4-door and is tired of three pedals). Trouble is, I live in Brooklyn, NY. My existing car, an 88 Accord has been broken into twice since I've lived here. I am worried about having such a nice vehicle in the city but cannot pass up the opportunity of such a pristine, cared-for TJ. Also, there is the chance that I've been so unlucky because my car is so easy to break into and has no alarm.

I am having a hard top installed while I am still living in NYC (trying to move out). Also, once it gets here, I will be installing wheel locks, a hood lock, a fuel cap lock, and a "Club"-style lock. Also, the Jeep has an aftermarket head unit which I will religiously store in the center console.

What other safety precautions should I take? Any city-dwellers on here who may have learned a lesson or two that I don't need to learn the hard way?
