turdhurdler Not trying to hijack, just wanted to share a story of a trip I made to Oregon a few years ago.

I am a Southern California guy, born and raised so I am pretty accustomed to the way things work here. I drove to OR and stopped at a little town for a snack and gas and when I tried to pump my gas, the staition attendant went off on me. Apparently, you are not permitted to pump your own gas there. He explained that the attendant had to do the work and I was alright with that. I went into the store for my snack and I come back he is talking to another employee about the dumb a$$es from CA. He did not know I was walking up on him when he said it, then he had a look on his face of "Oh crap, he caught me". Then the guy had the nerve to hold his hand out and ask for a tip. To this day, I still think it is funny.

The rest of my Oregon trip was great and had a great time.

castorj29 TJ.........I like what you said...........Makes sense to me.

castorj29 Well I will tell you that I moved from North County San Diego after living there all my life. After i retired,my wife and i said we are moving from So.Cal. So we bought a home in Redmond Oregon, which is about 15 mins. north of Bend. In Central Oregon. And I will tell you that the people in Central Oregon are most caring bunch of folks i have ever seen. Those days of people hating people from So Cal are gone. There is so much to do there. We are 20 minutes from the beautiful Cascade Mountains. If you like to hunt and fish. Then this is the place to be. We get about 300 days a year of sun. And about 1-3 ft of snow, which doesnt last long on the ground. So if you are tired of living in So Cal check out Central Oregon.Oh and our utility bill for gas and electric is about 100 bucks a month. Compared to 300 bucks a month in Cal.

Jerry Bransford I live in Calif., San Diego area to be exact, and in my 20+ years driving Jeeps, rare is the Jeep that doesn't wave first or wave back. The ones that don't are usually bone stock and driven by someone too busy texting on their cellphone to even know they're driving a Jeep.

SUBZEROCOOL A good pal of mine recked his motorcycle here, he was on the side of the road till an ambulance came for him. No one got out, no one helped for about 10 min. Cars just keep passing some honking at him. Someone passing buy must have called in the meat wagon. "California is alright.... somebody check my brain"-Alice in Chains

XtrmTJ People are getting all butt hurt cos no one will wave back to them? You all are missing the point! You are waving at the Jeep, You are respecting the Jeep, You are honoring the Jeep! I do not care if anyone waves back at me, I do not need to get a wave to feel OK about myself or to know I am right with the universe! I wave out of respect and honor, that is all, I do not care who is driving it! Most people that drive Jeeps do not know the history of Jeep, so they do not know to respect it or to honor it! My .02 Here, for those of you that need it, ...

95jeepthing Being a newbe Jeep owner, I was surprised at all the waves other Jeep owners give out while going down the road. Every Jeep owner in my town waves as they pass by. Just driving a Jeep is fun enough, all the waving just makes it even more fun! Back in the 70's I drove a Triumph Spitfire and the same was done with all British car owners. I'm in Independence (Kansas City) Missouri BTW

30-284 Must have been the oregon license plate, when californians go to oregon they get no respect, were just reciprocating.

pokey Hey castor, If you ever find yourself travelling Hwy 247 in the Yucca Valley area, I'll wave at ya. But your right. Even on the 247, which is Jeep Alley, I rarely get a wave. Most of the Jeepers are from the city going to Johnson Valley for the weekend. Maybe it's cause I have a stock jeep. Screw 'em. My jeep has probably seen more trails in the area than they'll ever see.

No respect

I drove down to the girlie state a couple of weeks ago to help my daughter open up a business. All the way down I-5 i saw lots of jeeps. But only got a few waves. And thats ok being on the freeway. But when i got down to San Diego, there were jeeps running around everywhere. I counted how many jeeps i saw. 128 jeeps, and 2 waves out of 128 jeeps. And I started the wave on the one. Its just a different life style down here i guess. Everyone is in a hurry to go nowhere. I had one jeep pull up right next to me at a stop light. And he didnt even look over for a wave. Sad isnt it.. I just want to go home to Oregon, where people are friendly and enjoy life.
