You see the predicament here right? That'd be why I'd go for comparing a tiger to a bobcat. Not as sensationalist, but far more realistic in this big world we live in. Just sayin...

Seems as if this thread has turned into the Animal Planet Channel...lol

My girlfriend has a new "trail rated" and yeah, it's great what it is intended for. Her family has only owned Jeeps and she grew up around them and offroading them. She herself said the last few times out offloading, "not to bad but it's NO WRANGLER"

Mr. Sinister maybe i'm thinking of a different noise? my wife's santa fe will do it if you just open the back windows. open the fronts even a little and it''s gone.

I had assumed air flow somehow. I tried rolling down front windows also, same wooba. I rolled down the rear window thinking it would flow through. Opened the sunroof. Opened every window in the runner, same noise! Roll up the back sides, offending noise gone. Sooo annoying!

A properly sealed vehicle, that ear destroying sound you are hearing is completely normal in an suv that has good seals and is air tight, definitely not a bad thing unless it does it when the front windows are down and the back are not. Normal though in vise versa.

I custom ordered an 05 Liberty Limited so I'd have something to carry my little grandson in.
It was LOADED.
Had that bish for 6 months and could not lose it fast enough.
Took a horrible hit on it when I traded it back in and did NOT care.

The KJ (Liberty) has other issues too.
Things like, the interior is not comfortable. The seats are great but the arm rests are too low or in the wrong location, steering wheel too far forward, when you roll the front windows down the back ones go "wooba wooba wooba" so hard it makes your ear drums vibrate. The interior controls are all jacked up, the power window controls are all in the wrong places and on and on...

To make a KJ truly off road capable, you're going to spend upwards towards $15k and it STILL won't come close to doing what a JK Rubi will with a budget boost on 37's. .

Yea, I lost money on that deal, and I was happy to do it.

daggo66 The plow pushed all that snow against it and it was at an angle. It turns out the pole was made of a composite material. As the snow melted, it got lower and lower, but the light still worked. Finally it was laying on the ground. The power company came out in April to fix it. The big truck pulled up an the guy was there for about an hour. When he left there was a safety cone at the base of the pole (which was still lying on the ground) and the light no longer worked. 2 months after that we got a new pole, but the sign was on the ground. A couple of weeks ago the sign was placed back on the pole.

bigjay0512 Hey Tom what happened to the light pole in the pick you posted? Snow plow get it or am i just catching it at a weird angle?

We tried to tell her not to. Keep in mind she went with the middle level Jeep run. The damage as I recall was, both sides of the rockers smashed in, the t-case or trans plate smashed in to the trans, leaking fluid perhaps, the rear tire carrier dented in the trunk and missing spare.. not sure why on that.. bottom line.. it was not good.
Sounds like ground clearance issues as I stated.

Conclusion

Wrangler Sport JK (Stock) VS Liberty

For what I read the Wrangler is more capable Off Road because: Solid Axle ( Dana 44 rear and Dana 30 in the Front), Liberty : Independent in front and solid rear Axle.
Better Groud clearance, Approche and Departrure Angle for the Wrangler. But an excellent driver in the Liberty will do better then a regular driver in the Wrangler.

Thank you all

No more fight now

Oh yeh!

TDCoffee I agree that the jk and liberty are worlds apart.
But anyone who says that the liberty is ONLY a soft road vehicle has never tried.
Back in the day I had an 04 tj and my wife had a stock liberty sport. She was an environmental scientist and worked in the field about 3-4 days a week. She took her liberty places most would be nervous to take a stock wrangler. Through water ip to the top of he hood, through sugar sand, and incredibly dense palmetto fields. On more than one occasion she was called on to pull out the contractors in their ford 250's etc.
Sometimes she'd take the wrangler, and said that it did clearly take the trails easier, but in three years of old growth Florida off road work. She didn't get stuck once.
Keep in mind not all liberties were four wheel drive. Those that were had different packages on them and wore the trail rated badge. That's why they started he whole trail rated badge thing. Because starting with the liberty some jeep vehicles were meant to go off road and others not.
