|MkUltraOps||sidepipes would hit bottom when wheeling, not very smart, but its your rig|
|10-10-2010 09:26 PM|
|jeepin82||There all gonna laugh at you!! .....All kidding aside I thing those side pipes would be the worst thing you could put on a jeep. It would be like making a Ferrari automatic.|

wouldn't do it...I don't think a yj has the same clearances as a CJ. I have em on my '72 CJ5, but the frame is narrow and I have a AMC 304 V8, and it actually works good on it, but I don't think on a YJ it would be advisable. Here is mine on my CJ...it is pretty high and tucked up out of the way.

I had those on a 73 Vette. I bet you could get some T-tops cut into your soft top too!
...don't do it!

|Jeeper||I run stock exhaust with a turbo tube tucked away in my undercarriage to be clear of obstacles. I have a stock 4 but it has good sound.|

|10-09-2010 11:34 PM|
|inedjep||Don't forget about the exhaust gases. They are right at your doors.|

That's a "Bumb Cheek Burner" photo of a mod if I've ever seen one.
The 'Woman' can handle my junk tender, but not X-tra crispy.

|Clutch.93||dont do it, you will regret it, its not a good idea at all... more con's than pro's doing this mod...|

|skiidoorider14||Just trying to come up with some different ideas for my jeep... not a lot of money to spend too so any suggestions on a exhaust that would give it a nice deep tone to it... ive always had a louder exhaust on my cars including my trans am dodge ram and family 85 trans let me know... thanks.|

And do you see the pipe hanging making the bend under there. It's not adding to ground clearance.
Also, ignore the claims in the add, I doubt this will do anything for performance or HP gains. Cosmetic only, though it probably will change the sound signature.

Ok, here's a quick photo I found.
As you can see, they are out there.
Just remember, they get HOT!!!! It will peel skin in nano seconds.

|abw0004||I have seen them on TJ's before and did not care for them very much. Those look good on the old Corvettes, and some racing cars, but not on Jeeps. But if you like it go for it. It has been done|

First time you slide out wearing a pair of shorts and burn the back of your leg on one of them, you're going to be wishing you'd thought twice about them.
Ask me how I know this.
That and if you take it off road, they will be extremely susceptible to damage.
Just a couple of things to think about.

I don't really care for the look of those...But it's your rig and you can do what you want to it.
Here is how I did my exhaust on my CJ:
|10-07-2010 09:25 AM|
I could see those lasting all of 20 minutes on my jeep....
If you like the way it looks do it. But if you can make a straight shot from headers to side pipes without having to turn around the exhaust dont do it. Ideally you want your exhaust to follow a path of least resistance... slowing and turning to make it out the side pipes is not that. Maybe you could mount them vertically like stacks? just a thought

|NAVYCHIEF||they really look nice...........................ON THAT BLUE TRUCK|
|10-07-2010 01:02 AM|
|whiteyj||Chrome side pipes aren't doing it for me.....but it's your rig.|
|10-07-2010 12:55 AM|
|10-07-2010 12:51 AM|
|whiteyj||You've got to be kidding right? Even the 50"L ones would almost run fender flare to fender flare. By the time you get off the header and split you'd be doing pipe u-turns underneath to get back to the front of the side pipe.|

Side Exhaust pipes
CHROME PLATED DUAL SIDE PIPES - JCWhitney
anyone know anything about these,
i think it would be a great addition to my 1993 jeep YJ daily driver...?!
