|RE-Xpert||Tri-link option (3 link) will eliminate the rear track bar. The rear track bar on compression pushes the axle from passenger side to driver side affecting handling slightly at high speeds off-road but fairly hard to detect (nearly impossible with fat tires aired down to 10psi) at slow rock crawling speed. The Extreme duty 4.5" suspension LA (4 link) system retains the track bar and distributes the forces of the control arms to additional attaching points along with keeping the track bar. With a tri link if one of you mounting points fail your axle will no longer stay centered while the 4 link system retains the track bar that keeps your axle centered. There is not much difference in articulation between the two however the tri-link system by design requires less force to get the suspension to react making it feel more responsive to terrain. The 4 link handles better on the street. Both systems work very well, just pick your preference.|

The tri-link suspension moves the rear upper control arm mounts to the center of the axle housing just above the pumpkin, to a bracket bolted to the top of the pumpkin. This allows the rear track bar to be removed while keeping the axle centered. The benefit is the axle has more articulation so it can follow extremely uneven terrain more easily.
If you're not doing truly extreme trails, you don't need to tri-link your suspension. I managed to make it through the trails in Johnson Valley like Sledgehammer and Sunbonnet with the standard non-trilinked RE long arm suspension though the long control arms liked to get hung up on the rocks.

rubicon express Tri-Link/extreme duty suspensions-whats the difference
hey im still new at this jeep stuff and was looking into a lift. Was wondering what the difference is between the rubicon express Tri-link and Extreme duty 4.5" suspension lift. Please Help
