Italia ^ Yeah it is! Looks great, very neat job. I've liked Diamond plate ever since I saw a Jeep on TV at some car show that's interior was completely decked out in Diamond plating. Floor liner, dashboard, door trim and all. Looked pretty epic!

NewYJOwner I used the diamond plate to replace the cheesy plastic filler panel between the front bumper and the grill as well.

I used 3/16" rivets. I wanted something smoother than screws. The aluminum was so thin I didn't want to try and use counter sunk screws either.

billy_YJ I'm one of those who only have diamond plate to cover up an imperfection on my tub. I want to get the matching strips that go under the door...

Schwheelz What'd you use to mount it?
10-10-2010 08:40 AM
billy_YJ Does Lowes sale the black diamond plate? Because that is a really good job. I could buy the supplies, mess up a couple cuts & still come out cheaper than buying the pre cut stuff from Warrior or whoever else.

Bean68 Looks good. I took a old diamond plate bed rail cap off a long wheel base truck and flattened out the curve. Painted it black and slapped it on.

No it really didn't. From making the patterns to the install maybe 2 hours. Now thats not constant though. I took a few breaks during the process.

Diamond plate.........

I know there are different opinions on diamond plate here. Some like, and some don't. Until now I was one that didn't. I recently had my YJ painted. Below the doors I removed the factory steps. When I did I found several holes that had to be fiberglassed. Either way after the paint you could see some ripples in the metal. Below the windshield was the same way. Black paint is the worst for showing imperfections. When I primed it you couldn't see it. It wasn't that bad, but I didn't like it, so I decided to cover it. I looked around for diamond plate kits that would cover all I needed, but for what I needed I just didn't want to pay that much. It was a total of $160.00 plus shipping. I decided to make my own. I went to Lowes and picked up a sheet of diamond plate 24" by 48" for $55.00 and 3 jig saw blades for $7.00 and I went to work. Now 48" isn't as long as the kit I was looking at, but for the price I like it.
