|kcgjk08||So I got it towed. Turned out the fuse trick did not work for my car which was a releif that my issue was not that simple and could have been fixed that easily all along. They gave me a call today and told me it was my starter. Good news is that it is all under warranty and I won't be paying a dime. Thanks everyone for your replies.|

So I was doing a bit of research tonight and I came across this thread

Basically it says to disconnect the IOD fuse for 30 seconds and put it back in. It sounds a lot like my problem... check engine light... ETC light is on then goes off and then it won't start up.... So I'm going to give that a shot when I get home.

Sounds like a distributor problem to me. I had the same problem happen to me a few years ago with my car. Car would run..then shut down. Then when I tried to start it...click..click..no answer.

I'm still baffled by the fact that he jumped it, ran it shut it off, and failed o restart it. Even on a near dead battery the alternator should be charging it.
If you have (know how to use) a 12V. Tester, I would start the car and test the batt to see if you're getting a charge from your alternator.

Some amps use standby power - Don't know how your setup connection is, but some amps have a blue auto turn on wire " which acts as a bus wire for the radio turning on the amp, instaed of ading an additional aux switch - if you have noise in the line, it could be trying to turn on with the radio off , while starting. It could be draining on your battery , or could be interferring with the electronics of the Jeep. Disconnect and try jumping the battery again. If it starts, I suggest buying a new battery, and adding a noise choke on the radio and amp lines. Radio shack has the clamp on type --- RF
It is possible that the amp might be faulty, pre-maturely draining the battery.

|kcgjk08||So I had the a tow truck come to get the car and when he came he didn't bring a flat bed so he could not take it right then and there. When he looked at it he suggested we try to jump it again. When we tried to jump it it did not work. He then looked at my positive power terminal and saw that I had an 8 gauge wire for an amp. I told him that I had disconnected the amp but he said that you need to disconnect it from the power terminal because it can still draw away a lot of power. He also said it could make the warranty void. I checked the fuse on the amp wire and it was not blown but it did look a little bit beat up. Could this be the reason why my starter isn't getting enough power to turn over? I did not have enough time to mess around with it but when I get the chance later tonight I'm going to disconnect it, and try to jump it again. I mean I didn't even think it was an issue because I disconnected it but I'm going to feel real dumb if it turns out to be the problem.|

For the time being you can " While you are waiting to bring your Jeep to the dealer under warranty" you can do the folowing. Some items were already mentioned by previous members posting on this thread.
#1. Check all connections. Grounds, etc. Did you clean the actual connections that connect to the battery post?
#2. Check all fuses manually with a meter, even the heavy duty cubed ones as well. Possibly one of the heavy duty relays or fuse plugs are going. Fussible links can not be fixed " different from a regualr glass or plastic fuse , they must be replaced. Check each one where possible using a meter. All major auto parts centers have these fuses and links. " Some fusible links are like simply a wire connected together via with heavy-duty heat shrink material" This is why it is important to have needle pins for your multimeter, that allow you to puncture into the wiring and get a reading, NO NEED TO TAKE THE PART OUT OF THE CIRCUIT. the hole is barely noticeable when completed.
#3. You did not mention at anytime before and curently, you had any dash dummy lights.. " When you push started your Jeep, And went home that day and idled it for 15 mins, did you notice any lights on the dash or weird instrument movements via the gauges?
I mentioned the above because , even though the check engine light is not on, you could have logged in codes of the OBD-II computer. If you do not have a scanner, bring it to a known automotive store. They usually read the codes for free. Write the codes down, if any , and post them here, myself or someone else on here will tell you what the definition is. Some OBD-II computers still keep past codes after a battery replacement " not many" , and some do not. In either case, have them scan it, One code could solve all your issues, all at least point you in the right diection

I am just surprised that after only having the car for 2 years and not doing to much offroading that I am running into this issue. I believe my car is still under warranty so I'm going to see if I can get it checked out for free. Hopefully this doesnt end up costing me to much money. On a side note, my car is low on oil, doesn't seem low enough to cause a problem, and the negative terminal isn't the cleanest but I have seen much worse that still worked.

|captjhym||I agree with Haf, trace from your positive terminal, check EVERY connection for cleanliness and tightness... don't stop til you trace all the way back to negative terminal|

|Haf||New battery so chances are it's not that. I'm leaning toward a ground issue as well. Double and triple check your battery cables. Make sure they are snug. Other than that the problem would be larger than I can help with.|

Jeep Power Problem
Hey, I'm new to the forum, I found my way here because I have a really baffling situation with 08 jk wrangler 2dr. So try to stick with me as I explain....
So yesterday I went to stop by my work for about 10 minutes in my jeep. I came out to my jeep and tried to start it up and I got the click noise from the starter. All the eletrical components worked fine, radio, lights, dash lights, etc. So I figured maybe that my battery was working just didn't have enough juice to get the engine to turn over. No problem right? I'll just jump it. Well I tried to jump it and it was a no-go. I didn't want my car sitting at work so I push jump started it and got everything working and drove it home, about 1 mile, and left it on for a good 15 minutes to try to charge the battery. After 15 minutes I turned it off and tried to turn it back on but once again nothing, just the starter trying to fire up the engine but no cranks or turn over. I let my car sit for an hour or two, came back to it and tried to start it up as a hail mary. Of course I had no luck with this, but for some reason this time the car door beeping noise would not go off even when closing the car door, as well as the odometer bugging out. I figured whatver i'll get a new battery tommorow and just let this one die. So that exactly what i did. Today I got a new battery, a bosch 770 cca. Hooked it up and i got nothing, the car was as dead as a door nail, no eletric whatsoever. So i got my jumper cables and checked to see if the battery had a charge and it did. I got another car and hooked up the jumper cables but that did not work at first. I had to mess around a lot with the jumper cables, specifically the ground part of the battery. I was able to get it jumped and left it on for 15 minutes, turned it off and tried to start it and I got a click and then there was once again no power whatsoever. So right now I come to you guys to hopefully get a second opinion. I am thinking that there is something wrong with the ground wire, but I do not know much about auto in the first place. I really am in the dark and could use some advice.
