Jeep Patrol You want to eliminate the slack but don't go past that. Because they're rubber people go overboard and really strech them out thinking they're doomed to fly off the second you start it, when you actually are causing stress that only gets magnified. When turning, running the AC, ect.

Vinny13 how can you tell if the belt is to tight?

Jeep Patrol Your belt is also tied into your power-steering. Too much stress can do that. I'd just replace the belt refill fluids and check the new belt for being too tight. As that was provably the initial cause for failure.

Troubles

So I shredded a belt and pissed powersteering fluid everywhere just randomly to. I am not sure what this was caused by or how to go about fixing it other than to put a new belt on and fill up the resevoir. Any help suggestions would be greatly appreaciated. Oh ya this happened after I cranked my steering wheel to one direction to turn around.
