rubicon hobby Here check this out:
You can cold-chisel the old nutsert out though it's easier with an air tool. Then spot weld an insert you can get from Grainger into the hole.

Here's how... Transfer Case Weld Nuts - Write Up

rubicon hobby Welcome to skid plate 101 the nut is pressed in the frame and has probably rusted and broken loose. I had to cut the head off the same bolt then you can get a weld nut from Grainger or McMaster-Carr and weld it in or try to find some other way to hold a nut from the inside. Yes it sucks but we all go through it sooner or later I grease all the bolts before install now with Marine grease Good Luck.

Skid Plate Removal

Jeep Crew
Removing my skid plate to get to my transmission...

5 of the 6 bolts came out with some PB, a touch of torch, and a cheater bar

the 6th bolt, front passenger side, is more or less spinning without coming out

I am picking up my jack tonight from a buddy, but I have this fear that the threads are spinning inside the frame itself, anybody experience this before?

tips?
