|foxinthemudd||light beer! thats a scary thought, lol. ya I'm sure that she'll have to let me do something when put up to the old "something broke today" line, however last time I did that she somehow ended up with a new set of earrings and necklace. oh well I guess we all have our weaknesses, and if I get kicked out of the bedroom I can always take the seats out of the jeep and put an inflatable bed in the tub!|

That sounds like a relatively manageable process. Drive around for a while (month or so), give yourself some time to save some cash by sacrificing something in support of your project (bag luch, light beer, commuting to work, etc)
A couple of months down the road you will have an "unplanned" repair activity that involves the differential. "Honey, something broke on the Jeep today and I need to get it fixed..." She will have to chalk it up to a mechanical failure and you can leverage the pevious repair to support your justification....
Just a thought....

|rob5059MOD||Congrats, don't you love the feeling of success when you do something like that! Now that you have ripped your diff apart, it will only take you about 2 hours rip it apart and drop the Aussie in.|

|foxinthemudd||well I finished the job of replacing the Axle tube seals today at about 4:30. all went well. I was kinda worried about messing with the diff, but I'm much more comfortable with it now. just getting myself prepared for the aussie locker install sometime in the future.|

|foxinthemudd||well the thing about not jumping into removing the seals is that the passenger side one is already loose and moving around and I'm sure that its getting stuff into it. so I kinda need to jump in and do it. I've been warned before about the bearing caps and shims before. I've been researching opening up the diff for awhile planning on putting in a aussie locker. so I have a little info on it. I'm not mechanically challanged but, I just don't want to screw it up by some small stupid mistake. I always take my time and do it right.|

|1BLKJP||Be very careful taking the bearing caps out. You need to make sure you put the bearing caps and the shims back EXACTLY how they come out. After that it's easy to pull and replace the seals.|

|MR.CLIFFORD||Replacing the inner axle seal isn't something the just jump in on. There are specifics that should be completely followed before attempting to remove that seal. Which can be a PITA in the first place.|

So you are leaking fluid out of the axle tubes on a dana 30?
You have to pull the case and ring gear in order to replace the inner axle seal. That all happens after you remove the shaft. Have you ever messed around with gear shims before?? If you don't get them back in the same configuration you will have more problems than leaky fluid out the tubes.

re-packing the front axle tube
ok so now that I busted my front passenger axle tube seal and am upgrading them with some aftermarket ones, what do I need to do to repack and make sure that the tube is sealed?
I need a list of stuff I need as well as directions on what to do. I know that I need grease and breakeen/PB. but is there anything else? I have never went into my tubes cause I have never had a problem with my other rigs, but breaking s*#& is experiance right...
