yomondo LOL! I think it was me who's been mostly recommending people to have a CB, at least lately. I use the handheld Cobra 38WXST connected to a 4' Firestick, and it works fine. At least I haven't heard any complaints. I also didn't want to install a big CB unit in my already cramped for space Jeep. Also with a handheld unit you can take it with you when leaving your vehicle to scope out a trail or something, and still remain in communication with the group, although I usually don't bother to do so. But at least I have the option.

lol, them are easy... I got three daughters and a wife, so I might as well change my last name to verizon, and I've got a total of 5 ciggy outlets in my JK.

aelwero If it's only for trail runs, a handheld will be plenty even without an external antenna. If you can manage one with a hand mike, you'll appreciate having it. handhelds can get heavy.

Hand Held CB

I do not want to hook up a CB permanently in the Jeep but a lot of you would like everyone to have CB's on the trail. I have been looking at hand held units such as the Midland 75-822 unit that can be hand held or hook up to an external antenna as well. From the reviews, just using the hand held unit seems very functional for trail rides, maybe not a range of miles but we are never that far apart anyway. Any thoughts on these?
