|jarrods2000tj||new idea add a rubber washer between two grade 8 washers then push them against the head of the clevis pin the rubber washer should absorb the road shock causing the clevis pin to last longer this is just a theory im going to test|

|Rolf||I was going to do this at some point but after disconnecting them several times over the last couple of months I'm not interested anymore. I have an 18mm box wrench and a ratchet with a T55 torx bit - it takes around 30 seconds to a minute per side to disconnect the factory links.|

|moscoeb||Most people don't disconnect the rear. Unless you are doing some extreme stuff, I wouldn't worry about it.|

hey yall, i know im kind of ressurecting this thread...hope its not too outdated. lol
but anyway, im thinking about making some of these for my rig, and im just wondering what to do about the rear swaybar? just leave it disconected all the time? (ive heard thats not such a bad thing) or make disconnects for it?

Came across this set up while doing some "google shopping" Any thoughts, experience with these?
Seems really simple, and for the price not a bad idea..i do worry about the quality of that pin tho...Could always replace it with something stronger, better for wear.

you can rest it on the spring perch (above spring) or you can lash it up there with a bungie cord.
I grease the main pin, to stop some annoying sqeaking

|Dockman4||I'm fairly new to this so go easy on me. What do you do with the link once you disconnect it? I take it you don't take it completely out. Can you swing the sway bar upward far enough so the link is out of the way so it won't interfere with anything flexing?|

|moscoeb||I have a 2006 X and the top of the sway bar links does not pivot. It is bolted straight into the sway bar. Have any of y'all run into this, and is there a homemade mod so I can use these quick discos?|

Jeep Homemade Swaybar Disconnects
I actually stopped at tractor supply yesterday to get the parts, then realized how little this is worth it after you take into account the damage that 4x4xplor found after a year. The time it takes to unbolt the t-55s is nothing in comparison to the resulting crash and/or damage that can happen when this fails. All of the hardware can be found there, just it takes a minute to look (that said, I hate Tractor Supply). Those ring pins you're looking (circle red) are what are called linch pins.
Tractor Supply had everything I needed, I just personally don't want to do it, especially after considering 4x4s issue. It takes 2 minutes to unbolt the T-55 link, and even then, you can do it at home if you're driving there as long as you're not going on the highway. Save up for the JKS Quick Disco

Here it is, my first real mod. I couldn't find a grd 8 or stainless pin after spending way too many hours, so I made these using grade 8 bolts (trimmed to size).
I'm planning a trip in Oct. and wanted to get this mod done early.

These are the pins that came with my JKS Quicker Discos. Love them. They work perfectly (the clips and the discos) and are well worth the $140 I paid for them.
These are the clips that came with my original Full Traction discos. They were alright, but were bulky and did get caught up when in tall grass. I ended up getting rid of the FT discos for JKS and haven't regretted a single minute of it......

Those are a lil different from "Jesus Clips"...when you pull those off (or if they come loose), they don't go flying...lol.
The snap pins you're talking about I think are also known as lynch pins...

|03 RUBI||Those really aren't "cotter pins" per say. They're more commonly called Jesus clips in my experience. Also quick disconnects come with snap pins which are available at OSH. They're a lot stronger and are less likely to get caught on something and pulled off because the ring snaps closed over the pin.|

|s3nt3nc3d||You could prolly find grade 8 stuff at Tractor Supply... I'm not 100% sure on that, but I would think since people use some of that stuff on some pretty heavy machinery, they'd have grade 8 available for that purpose.|
