I have a JK Sport, 2 door, 4" lift, Rubi e-disco, rear locker, soon to be installed front. We picked up a used (warranted) e-disco- didn't discover until later how many Rubi owners have issues with them. We've got the little twirks down now- but I am always ready to manually disco.
As for Sport to Rubi mods- seriously, work through the issues you have- you didn't make a bad decision. You still started with all the right components (locker, e-disco, transfer case, D44, 4.10s). And your Rubi will be worth more later. I started with a $22K Sport and have modified everything- but installed on our own. If I paid "retail" for all those mods...I'd be at a Rubi price easy. I have a littler better...ARB, 4.56s- but I still have a sleeved & gusseted D30 and miss the T case for rock crawling.
Keep an eye on that boot if you wheel. If you don't fully flex frequently its ok- but I make it a point to check mine after every trail. And I have a new DS.

As far as the links, there has to be a limit at some point at which the stock links are affected.

Crawled under and checked the boot ... even moved the Jeep back a bit ... no boot problem. But that sounds like a "yet" from what you wrote. Again, any advice or suggestions?

Got the Jeep back. Here's the words from the tech and whats listed on the repair sheet:
* Transmission range switch shorted out - replaced
* Powertrain Control Module - re-flashed
* Traced and repaired a corroded wire at sway bar module
Runs great - tested disco and lockers, no problem.
Appreciate the support and the feedback. Always learn more here than any where else.

|mello03||Well, if they can't get it figured out then you could just ditch the e-disco sway and go with the manual one from Evo. You could do the Antirock as well. I have already decided that if and when mine goes I'm just taking it out of the equation.|

You have a 3.5" lift on a 2 door and you have no idea why there is an issue with your stock e-disconnects?
Check your front driveshaft. If the CV boot isn't torn yet, it will be.

|RubiChick||Just tough luck :-( I hope everything works out at the end and great build too! ... see, I installed majority of my mods as well then one day my dash lights would start blinking like the airbags, ebrake etc you name it, it looked like Christmas lights at one point..and it felt like my radio would turn on and off and I would hear that infamous chime... then finally opened the hood, after further evaluation I found out that my winch negative terminal was slightly loose...mind you I had less than 3k miles and haven't had my first oil change yet...to say the least I was worried. Tried to tighten it down but it still would have that Christmas tree lights and chime sound. Finally took it to the dealership for its first oil change and mentioned the weird lights flashing. After 45 mins went by the service advisor talked to me and told me the reason why my dash light was acting up was due to the winch negative terminal and that the tech moved it and secured it down. So after a little over a month now thank god no weird blinking lights or chime. I try to go over bumps hard and ride it kinda rough to see if the lights would come back again but nothing. But in all honesty it has something to do with your electronics like what people have mentioned before.|

Did any of the electrical mods directly precede the beginning of your Sway bar Disco problems? Particularly the Lockpick, lights and winch?
If it is a CAN bus problem it is going to be a bear to trouble shoot without the help of a dealer that really understands the system because you can't simply disconnect some of those mods. Factory trained technician seems to have no meaning at some dealer shops.
Regarding the guys at work, wait until Spring hits and you are running topless and doorless with a left over grin on your face from hitting the trails with your family and you will see who is laughing in the end.

The cold air intake gave me a fit after installation in terms of the check engine light coming on, but was resolved with the dealer clearing the error code. The headlights continue to signal an error but have been told multiple times it's not related to the sway bar disco. I've also since replaced the original amber turn signals, the smoked LED's just weren't bright enough for me or to warn other drivers.
I did all this in 4 consecutive weekends. Maybe I should have done it all over a greater period of time or at least moved the exhaust and intake to separate weeks or times, I'm not sure. It is my dd but it's also the wife's and I hobby. I'm not a mud junkie but we do enjoy challenging trails/climbs. I really take care of my stuff too ... don't race it or over spin the tires in snow or muck. Keep it clean and change the oil every 3K and rotate my own tires every 5k. It's like one of the kids.
I know these things can & do happen with vehicles and I get it that it's not really anyones fault. I just get bummed thinking this thing is a bit more durable that what it maybe truly is. Eventually it'll all be ok, just a PIA having to call off work trying to chase a solution to the problem I guess.

|mommymallcrawler||Sorry to hear you are having problems and hope the dealer makes them right. Could one of your mods have unintentionally affected something? When the gearing locks down like that it could be that limp home mode was triggered-the tranny will lockdown to prevent further damage to itself but still allow you to "limp home" (or to a mechanic, or out of traffic etc).|

2013 10A Rubi - Sway Bar probs & rant
Bought my second Jeep when the 10A's came out. Had a 2012 Sahara with big upgrade plans but traded up (I thought) and ordered a 10A. Took the Jeep out to Colorado last October with my bride to do some trailing and after our first trail, managed to break the rear locker spring that helps keep the rear diff unlocked. Took 4 days to replace a $20 part, but I get it ... part of the deal.
What floored me then, the trail wasn't overly rough and I used the rear locker sparingly, heading in a straight direction. Live & learn and now more hesitant on even using the lockers. 2-3 months before that, had the problem I've seen on here in many other threads, around the electronic sway bar disconnect. Solved that problem by unplugging the harness from the motor, hitting it good & hard with contact cleaner then gooping it all up with dielectic grease. Took a day or two, but the flashing light on the dash finally went away and the auto transmission also starting working correctly.
Less than a week ago, the flashing sway bar disco light starting acting up again, intermittently while driving down the road. The part that bothers me most, it directly affects the auto transmission (as a safety measure I assume) because it downshifts and the manual up/down shift feature becomes disabled. Also, while I know I can or the Jeep will go into 4WD when shifted into, there's no display on the dash to confirm ... gotta go by feel. Like wise, the lockers will not engage while this error occurs.
I had this Jeep in back when it first happened. The best answer I got out of the dealers service dept. was that I had an error code, they cleared it and it should be fine. It wasn't ... I followed the dialectic grease solution found on here and solved it myself.
Had to call off work this morning because the disco light immediately started flashing at startup and I couldn't get past 2nd gear. Can't drive 35 miles to work in 2nd. Dropped the Jeep off at the dealer and learned they have vehicles in line for service that have been sitting since last Thursday. I'm now using my extended warranty feature to get a rental and am at what I feel of the mercy on whether I'll get a caring knowledgeable mechanic or one who will simply go through the motions.
In my head (and have done it many times) I keep kicking myself for dropping the kind of coin I did on a Rubicon as compared to buying a Sport and tricking it out myself. I've sank about $20k in mods to this 10A (did them all myself with pals) and feel like I'm going to be plagued with problems from the stock sway bar disco and the lockers provided by Jeep. I know there are solutions to both these problems but I'm hacked that I dropped the coin up front for something that it appears I won't ever be using or at a minimum, can't feel confident in being there when I do need it.
Jeeps became the hobby for my wife & I after the kids graduated college. We love the outdoors and trailing. Did it years ago when I was a kid and swore then, after the kids were gone, we're going back to it. There's been a few days where I've asked myself, is it really worth it all? Love my Jeep, really do ... just can't stand these electronic bs issues that seem to take forever to diagnose or solve. Heap on that all the crap I take at work from guys who own Ford & Chevy trucks.
