There are a large number of trails in the territory, including John Bull, a pic from Dirtopia:

A good starting point for trail info: San Bernardino County at Dirtopia

Not much of a question.... I'll be there.
dirtopia is a awesome site, my friend Travis is the one that put it together and he is an awesome person. so go to his site.

Unlimited I'm getting ready to leave for my conference tonight, so I'll be off the board 'till Sunday/Monday. I just wanted to say that I hope you all have a great time. I sure wish I was going to be up there with you.

Maybe we can do it again in the spring?

4point Looks like I'll be working in San Rafael for the next 4 weeks, so I'm not going to be able to make it. Mabey in the fall if you guys go again. Seems like someone is always going up there.

4point Ditto on the camping thing. Motel 6 is $56 a night.
07-30-2007 06:43 PM
1BLKJP So I can't remember who all had confirmed before, but I don't want to camp if I'm going to be the only one.
07-30-2007 09:52 AM
tiny terror Yeah, I'm sneaky like that.

07-29-2007 11:53 PM
4point I'm not sure about going yet. I may if I'm working in Vegas that week.
07-29-2007 10:22 PM
tiny terror I have 31's and no lockers. So, you're golden. I'm staying in a hotel. I know Chuck and Eric are staying at Chuck's cabin, and Brian was camping. I'm not sure what Jack's up to, but I sent him a list of hotels to look at.

Are you thinking about going? I just googled hotels in Big Bear Lake. They've got a good range of them.
07-29-2007 09:51 PM
4point Tiny, what did you guys come up with on a cost for rooms or is everyone camping. Also is it very hot there? Would a rig be OK with 33's, 3:73's that are open. Yes, I have no lockers. Currently my jeep is all hat and no cowboy.

1BLKJP Damn, Unlimited that sucks. I hear ya on your newly found "Enthusiasm" for said conference. I'm sure there will be other times that we will all try to get together.
06-12-2007 11:25 AM
Unlimited I came into work this morning and got some really sucky news. It seems that the conference they are sending me to (on my calendar for September 19 -23) is actually in August, August 15 - 19 to be exact. The office administrator put it on my calendar (back in January) in the wrong stinkin' month. I told them I couldn't go that weekend because I had made plans. The department director "suggested" to me that not only could I go to the conference that weekend, but in fact, I really wanted to go. I had a suggestion for him, but since I kinda like (need) this job, I held my tongue and just said Ok.

So, it looks like I'm not going to make this trip. I'm really sorry I'm going to miss it. I was looking forward to meeting the AZ crew and getting out again. Maybe next time.......
06-07-2007 07:19 PM
tiny terror I haven't booked yet, getting ready to in the next couple of days. There's several places with cabins and some just plain old hotels up there, so I'm just going to pick some place close and cheap-ish.
06-07-2007 06:07 PM
1BLKJP Good stuff to know unlimited.

Hey Tiny, what cabins are you staying in? How big are they? What's the cost? Hell it might be better for Joe, Jim, and I just to get a cabin so we don't have to haul all of our shite out there.

What I was trying to say was that there is plenty of camping outside of the established campgrounds. You can pick a spot alongside of the trail and set up camp in a lot of places, but they do not allow open fires in these areas.

Hanna flats rarely bans campfires, the only time they do is when the whole mountain is closed to campfires. As a matter of fact, when we were there for July 4th week last year, they were comming around and asking everyone to have a camp fire and use the wood that was piled up in several areas around camp. They had cut down a number of trees that were damaged by beetles and wanted it burned.

Pretty much all the campgrounds allow open fires unless the whole mountain is closed to them. It's been pretty dry this year and it wouldn't surprise me if they banned all open fires this summer. They haven't done that in many years (to the best of my knowledge) but the guys that have places up there would know better.

In my previous post, "resolvable" = reservable
