|JDsDream||To answer your original question, YES you can pull the codes with the on/off method. Key to on position (not start) off, on, off then on. Wait a few seconds and the codes will be displayed in the odometer window. After all codes are shown it will read "done"|

Its not the reader. I use it for work. Ive tested many other cars. There's just a problem with the Jeep.

|JD Adams||Return the reader and get a $75 reader that works. I have a crappy old Actron that reads ours fine using the Chrysler OBD setting. And it's probably not the IAC. I'd find the cause before spending money chasing symptoms.|

Can the day get worse?
#1) Today I decided to adjust the trans bands in my '00 Wrangler. (2.5, Auto) First off let me say NEVER LISTEN TO THE CRAP WRITTEN IN A CHILTONS!! The book says rear band gets adjusted to 72inlb & 4 turns out. NOPE.. Tore it back apart & I set it to 41inlb & 7 turns out. It now looks like before I started. Now it shifts fine. $30 of new fluid in the crapper.
#2) Does the 2000 have a key ON-OFF test for trouble codes? I have a new scan tool I just spent $500 on & the damn thing wont link to the Jeep. It works on all the other cars I tested but not my TJ. I pulled the test port down & cleaned it up & made sure all the wires & pins were good.
The Jeep has been acting up lately. It dies at idle. I checked everything but the IAC. I wanted to check for codes before I change it.
